Hops at 60 minutes - any flavor or just bittering?

I've been known to use magnum or warrior hops for the 60 minute boils for a lot of styles. I'll just adjust for the IBUs I want. There are probably others that say diffeently, but I have not noticed a difference, nor have those drinking the beer.

how many Corny kegs will a 5lb tank do?

I think conventional wisdom says that 5# should dispense 6-8 5 Gallon Kegs IIRC. If you are force carbing it will be less. Edit: I don't really know where I got that other than the top of my head thinking I read it somewhere once. Doing a little digging, I'm seeing everything from a 5# tank...

FREE TEST for INKBIRDPLUS Portable Space Heater

I'd be down to trying one to replace the heater in my fermentation chamber. Is the app specific or does it integrate into something like domoticz? It would be great if it could ramp up or down on a custom schedule.

Hit a wall tonight (maybe before now)....

Funny, I have had similar thoughts, but don't want to quit my day job (pension and the like).. What I have done, some has been motivated by this thread: I have started doing festivals pouring my beer. I get feedback, and get to give away some beer, so it's like a 5 gallon batch that I give...

    CO2 refill way overpriced?

Amherst MA, The local pot growing shops all have them.. Check your local grow shop.. I guess it's a big thing even if you want to grow bigger "tomatoes"..

    CO2 refill way overpriced?

Ouch, swaps here are $25, both 5 lb and 20lb tanks. Bonus is never needing to worry on hydro testing.

Harvesting dry yeast (Lutra) - Is it worth it?

While this is entirely true for most parts of the US, the OP is not from the US, so maybe there is not an endless supply of cheap to free fridges where they are from. Also of note, electricity isn't cheap, at least around here. I have seen a ~60% cost increase in my bill in the last year while...

Harvesting dry yeast (Lutra) - Is it worth it?

I've used Opshaug Kveik 2 and a half years after drying, and sent some to friends, both of which would be much harder with liquid. For me it was just to have some more yeast options without worrying too much about it. for the OP, it sounds like they could save some money and increase their...

Harvesting dry yeast (Lutra) - Is it worth it?

See this thread Drying Kveik. Fast and Easy method I have done so with Voss and Opshaug. Make a (big?) starter, dry most of it, make your beer and have enough dried yeast to last you for a while.

    Local Only Trade (LOT)

Yeah, Treehouse does some great beers even outside the NEIPA style. I'm in Western MA, As far as beer styles, Anything that is well executed, with the possible exception of beers with pickles(Never thought I would have to say that)..

    Batch-to-Keg Size Sanity Check

Not sure what would take more CO2, but you could fill the keg with water/star-san, then push it out using CO2. Would leave only CO2. Do it right next to the sink and you won't have to lift anything. Alternately, there are products that will let you "convert" a 2-3l soda bottle to a ball-lock...

Have we messed up a special batch?

If you are bottling when you are done, you will need to add some sugars at the time of bottling to allow it carbonate in the bottle. It does not have to be corn sugar, table sugar will do. There are multiple calculators Beer Priming Sugar Calculator | Brewer's Friend is one. I second the...

Growler filling for just a few hours drinking time

Or, and hear me out.. you could put a kegerator in your kitchen. Doesn't have to be anything too big, 1-3 taps. Think of all the energy your would save, I haven't done the math, but it's got to be alot of energy to move that much mass from garage to kitchen and even more if you are carrying 4...

Growler filling for just a few hours drinking time

I'm not going to tell you what to do, but fo me, a growler becomes the same as a pitcher.. open growler, pour beer into glass, close, repeat until growler is empty.

    How to get lower FG?

A little confused here.. Is it "dry" at 1.026? because this sounds like "big stout" numbers to me.. To lower the FG, you could try some simple sugars or mashing lower(to get more simple sugars), some enzymes like beano(to get more simple sugars), or a yeast that has better attenuation (lets it...
