    Wyeast 3711 French Saison

There is a reason people post RDWAHAHB. Just took a gravity reading and it went from 1.062 to 1.006. 7.3% yeah I'll take that. We've been obsessed with saison in our house lately...I'm drinking Saison DuPont right now. So excited for this rye saison!!

    Wyeast 3711 French Saison

I'll give it another day and check some readings. Plenty of yeast was pitched, used wyeast nutrient, and the og was only 1.062

    Wyeast 3711 French Saison

How long is this yeast active? Every other time I've used it, I go out of town for a few days or weeks immediately after brewing and leave my trusty wife to keep an eye it. I just brewed a rye saison with it on Saturday and the krausen dropped down to nothing yesterday...seemed kind of fast...

I'm gonna make a crazy ass red ale!

    Haha, yeah I loved that

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'm doing almost the same thing next week...I always thought that Columbus gives off a pretty "dank" (if ya catch my drift) aroma and flavor. Anyway, my wife wants a great house pale ale, so I started doing some thinking, I already have a great pale ale grain bill and recently decided the same...

I'm gonna make a crazy ass red ale!

Haha...okay. The grain bill is a product of trying to clone Laguanitas Sucks...I just added the crystal. And then the amber dme for a bit more red. Doesn't sound like there's much faith from the peanut gallery

    Northern Brewer

I have been and always will be a NB customer! They've always treated me amazingly and anytime anything has been screwed up, they fix it...no questions asked. As for the "they took two days to fill my order" complaint. Do you know how silly that sounds? They are one of, if not the largest...

I'm gonna make a crazy ass red ale!

There, I said it... At first I wanted to make a Sucks clone. It's evolved...and now I don't care about a Sucks clone, now I'm doing my own thing for a fun and crazy red IPA that none of my friends will be expecting this winter. 2lbs Marris Otter 2lbs Rye 1lbs Red Wheat 8oz Simpson...

It's that time of year again...PUMPKIN!!!

Cernst151. Adding actual pumpkin doesn't add a lot of flavor. The flavor many associate with pumpkin is actually the pumpkin pie flavor pack; cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice, and ginger (you might know this already). Adding pumpkin during the mash however, does add a good amount of mouth feel and...

It's that time of year again...PUMPKIN!!!

Yeah it's that time of year already! I figure if I plan it out now, brew it by the end of the month and let it age till Halloween. It's perfect! I brewed last years around this time.

    Bulk aging on nibs?

I aged my last RIS on nibs (in a muslin bag) for 9 months. Turned out wonderfully! Do it up!!

It's that time of year again...PUMPKIN!!!

I made a pumpkin porter last year. It was just the Power Pack Porter kit from Midwest, then added a spice pack from a local organic food store and steeped 60oz of pumpkin from a can. Actually turned out really well. We had a diaper keg party (instead of a baby shower, you offer keg cups at the...

No more kits! A handful great homegrown recipes from Drivesabike Brewhaus

I decided back in November I was never buying another kit again. I had moved on to partial mash brewing and started building my own recipes. It's been a fun learning process and haven't made a bad beer yet, so I thought I'd share a few recipes. Greenhouse IPA 3lbs 2 row 1lbs Red wheat...

    Wyeast 3711 French Saison

I washed the yeast from my saison I currently have on tap. Some friends of mine are getting married soon and another friend of ours and I are brewing up a couple beers for their reception. He's doing a wheat beer and I'm doing a ginger saison. So, I brewed mine today...pitched the yeast...
