    Taking Samples with Spigot

I'm just wondering if it's safe to take samples from my primary by using the spigot that is attached to it? I will sanitize the spigot before and after taking the samples but my main concern in oxygen exposure. If for example a take about 300-400ml using the spigot will I expose my beer to...

    Quick Dry Hopping q: sanitary?

Hello, I'm about to dry hop for the firs time. I read how to do so here but I'm wondering if I risk getting an infection by dry hopping. I have the hop pellets in a bag, do I just chuck them in the fermenter? Are they 'clean' enough to just go straight in? Should I boil them in water for a few...

    Help with Kegging noob

I've read the forums and watching a few videos on kegging and there's a few things I don't understand. I think I'm just missing the terminology or something. I bought my setup from kegconnection. I'm tryiing to follow their instructions for force carbing here: http://draftbeerinfo.com/?p=95...

After three weeks, temps went up :(

Hey guys, I started two coopers kits about a month ago. I had the temperature fairly consistent at around 65-68. However On the weekend the temperature dropped and my block heater started pumping out too much heat. It must have be 74-76 in the room for about 12 hours :( Will I be tasting...

    No More Home Brew

Hope you get better man. I went through something similar a few years ago. Went through all the tests etc.. they said I was just fine. I had headaches/bowel issues/sore stomach/dizzy/tired as hell/etc etc.. I finally decided to get tested for food allergies. I was at least partially...

    Improving Coopers Draught kit

Please let me know how that turns out when it's ready. It sure looks good to me. Speaking of fermenting temps I really need to learn to setup a temperature control unit of some sort. I take it your not using the coopers yeast for this?

    Improving Coopers Draught kit

Hey, I'm using Cooper's Draught for my next batch. Those kits look really good. If I was in the USA I would definitely consider ordering them. They seem to mainly use DME, unfortunately due do the fact DME is over priced in my area I can't use it. However I did get some good ideas on what types...

    Improving Coopers Draught kit

PT Ray: Interesting, maybe I'll try adding some hops once and see what happens. (Edit: Actually might try Dry Hopping) MikeRoBrew1: Your thread was a good read. My last batch of Coopers with Dextrose came out pretty good actually. However I cut the dextrose to 800g and used 19L of water versus...

    Improving Coopers Draught kit

That Draught looks sweet! PT Ray, thanks, I'm going to do something similar to what you posted there. I see what you mean about sweetness now. Edit: Is there any point to try adding any hops?

    Improving Coopers Draught kit

Bump: I think my initial question is a bit confusing. If you had a Coopers Draught kit, what would you add: 2 Row Pale Malt, Pilsner Malt or Crystal Malt 20L for Malt? and Golding, Northern Brewer or Saaz Hops? Or a different Malt/Hop combination?

    Improving Coopers Draught kit

I've brewed five coopers kits so far and would like to take my next kit a notch up. I would like to add some grains and hops to my kit. I've been reading for an hour or so and I'm still not quite sure what types of grains or hops would work with this kit. I've come up with a shortlist: Malts...

    Fermentation temperature first ale

Thanks for the replies. I haven't done a gravity reading yet, I'll try one tomorrow. I placed a small heater in the room it seems to be helping. Frankly I'm relieved you said it might turn out alright :)

    Fermentation temperature first ale

I'm working on my third batch of coopers and after reading this thread I don't feel so great about things are going to turn out. It got pretty cold right after I pitched the yeast and the room temperature dropped to 57 to 58 degrees. It's been 5 days since I've pitched the yeast. The...

Moving to Two Stage Fermentation with Coopers Kit-Need Help

I'm not an expert but after reading these forums it sounds like your best bet is to just leave your beer in the primary for 3 to 4 weeks. The whole secondary thing seems to be going out of style like lead in gasoline.
