    American Light Extract

So it is personal preference rather than drastic differences. I have to admit that using the bags did give me a greater comfort level as to how clear the beer could turn out.

    American Light Extract

Quite an interesting read. It could appear that I was expecting drastic results. I am learning more and more with each batch I brew. Thanks for the info!!

    American Light Extract

I suppose what I meant was that I hope the muslin bag doesn't take too much away from the flavor. I have got used to my beer tasting like a light IPA but wouldn't mind a bit of the hop edge being shaved down.

Do you like your beer better?

If I may offer my opinion.... I much prefer my own beer even though I know it is not top shelf or to everyones liking. I brew beer that I can drink everyday and if a friend comes over and doesn't care for it, they best be bringing their own beer to drink. I am still learning how to improve my...

    American Light Extract

I am at day 7 of my American Light brew and a little nervous as to the final taste. Now normally this extract has a decent hoppy flavor, what I did this time was boil my hops in a muslin bag. The beer looks great and I think it will clear up nicely but the hops in a muslin bag just have me a...

    Bismarck ND Brewer here

Thanks!!! I think my co-workers are getting tired of me always talking about brewing. LoL

    Need a drip tray !

Just a suggestion, why not get a magnet tray from Harbor Freight and silicone up the seams? May not be pretty, but it would be pretty functional.

    Bismarck ND Brewer here

Hello brewers!!! I joined a bit ago and started reading threads and figured it was ride of me to not introduce myself. I have been brewing steady for the last year or so with extract kits. I do like the ease of these kits as well as the clear instructions. I started with a Norther Brewer...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I have 2 Catalyst Conicals that are looking all sad and loney due to emptiness, I will have to brew a double extract batch to make them happy again.

    Bismarck ND Stuff for Free

Hello fellow homebrewers!!! I brew extract kits quite a bit but I do not bottle, I keg. I have an abundance of priming sugars and bottle caps as well as a bottle tree and hand capper to unload. If anyone is in the Bismarck ND area, or willing to travel, I am giving these away. Happy Brewing!

    Explosive fermentation

I know this is an older thread but thought I would drop my 2 cents in. I had an airlock get filled with krausen about 4 months ago, ever since then I have only used a blow-off tube. My jar of sanitizer is about a gallon half filled with starsan since I usually have 2 fermenters going at once...

    Bucks County Brewer

I am originally from Lancaster PA but due to losing a bet (seemed a good conversation stopper when asked why move to) I am now in Bismarck ND. Welcome to the crew!!

Updating my fermentation setup, edumacate me plz

If you want to try a conical without a huge pricetag, try the Catalys conical from Craft-a-Brew. I am pleased with the 3 I purchased. I just brewed an American Light on Sunday

    Fermzilla

I am not sure if it is relevant now but I bought a FermZilla. The day I got it I cleaned it real good and sanitized it. I started my brew and assembled the FZ, it worked great and seemed quite durable, but that is about all I can say good about it. Once I kegged my brew I went to disassemble the...

Extract Kits with the best most complete instructions?

I did the whole secondary fermenter for a few batches then discovered Conical Fermenters. I much prefer a conical where I drum the trub once or twice during the whole process. Definitely a time saver IMO

    How long an Extract Brewer?

I brew with extract kits and like the ease of them. One day I will venture into AGB once I perfect my everyday extract brew.
