    Mesh basket for MLT

Amazon had 13x15 inch on there at one point. I have one it works fine when I have to use it.

How do YOU try to reduce your water usage?

Tldr sorry if this has been said I stopped using my cfc and ic. I now freeze ice blocks and put them in my hlt. I recirculate to make it semi cfc. It's been pretty efficient for me I use about 30 gallons total in a brew day and yield 9 gallons of wort.

    Bottom Draining Kettle Options

If this is a concern add a side pick up and use the bottom drain for cleaning only. I had a kettle with the bottom drain a side pick up and whirlpool return. It's one extra bulkhead valve and elbow.

    Bottom Draining Kettle Options

^Not really I just rinse them with hot water after a brew and wipe off the elements, leave the valves open. They air dry where they sit. All 3 of my vessels are all bottom drain.

    Bottom Draining Kettle Options

Keep it simple. Keg cut bottom off, use tc fitting to make it bottom drain and put the kettle on a harbor freight moving dolly for 7 bucks. No legs, moves with ease, and easy 2 min clean up. I've used weldless bulkheads for my electric elements for almost 4 years and they still work great. I run...

The Venting Thread: Let It Out, Folks!

Sourcing grain for reasonable prices. I have to either drive for almost 2 hours or pay per pound all the way up. I only buy bulk grain sacks. Why do lhbs do this price gouging crap? Silver lining, since moving to electric, doing full time dad plus work is not as bad as I thought it would be on...

    Chest freezer or mini fridge

Find a normal sized fridge for free. They perform better and can hold at least 4 kegs. The thing with chest freezers is lifting in and out is a chore. Mine always over cooled, but that could have been my build issue. Fridges are so much easier to load fermenters and kegs into than a chest freezer.

What I did for beer today

    Going HERMS from old school

10 gallon pot is 40 quarts vs your current 36qt cooler though

    Going HERMS from old school

You could convert the old hlt into a mashtun sometime in the future when the plastic cooler wears out. Using a domed false bottom and an elbow would probably be all you need, amd maybe a return port. The nice thing about electric herms is being able to set up the hlt the day or night before...

Idaho #7 or Galaxy in a hazy?

Wen and how do you use it or do you mind sharing the recipe? I'd love to brew a day tripper neipa!

    Don't Do That.

Using hops from 2017 in a nice neipa with a bunch of fresh hops. Dammit I should know better than that.

    Slury storage

I have been doing the same, minus the plastic caps. Had black mold under the ring on the few jars. Do you have a link for the plastic caps?

    Moldy Fermenter Lid

Binder clips could be a cheap solution. I used Chapman fermenter and their lid is very similar. I put two clip in between each clamp and could maintain about 5 psi.

I definitely forgot to burp the soda bottles

    Slury storage

I used to do the over built starter but since I moved and don't have large flasks for them I've been trying alternatives for yeast harvest and containment. Starters will most definitely yield cleaner pitches but the also require the extra work. Maybe I tried to cut the corner too hard and it got...

    Slury storage

I am using a conical and have been dumping slurry into soda bottles and recapping them to use later. Today I opened one that had developed some serious pressure. Long story short I pitched the yeast but made a huge mess trying to relieve the pressure. I stopped using mason jars because the...
