Nitrogen beer gas cornelius keg carbonating question!?

Great thank you. I am glad I asked. Do you leave it for about a week and then switch to beergas on 30psi, my mixture is 25% CO2, 75% nitrogen.

Nitrogen beer gas cornelius keg carbonating question!?

Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but it is relevant to my question. Would it be incorrect to carb a stout keg (that will be served with beergas) using the 12psi set and forget method? Would I overcarb my beer if I put it on 12psi for a week and then switch it to beergas at 20-30psi?

    Very Inconsistent all grain efficiency

Thanks for running that through, I am certain that each of these recipes is for a 5 gallon batch. I was told by AHS that all of their recipes assume a 75% efficiency. I guess that is not true. I think batch 1 could have been so low because it was my first all-grain and I made some mistakes...

    Very Inconsistent all grain efficiency

My evaporation rates are pretty insane. If I have 7 gallons preboil (60 minute boil), by the time I get everything into the fermenter I will have just under 5 gallons. I do have some slight variation in evaporation, but I am not sure if += .3 gallons should give such big swings. I had some...

    Very Inconsistent all grain efficiency

Hello, thank you for the help. Sorry for the late reply. These are all pre-measured kits but the grains were freshly milled the day before. I get them from Austin Homebrew Supply and the crush looks pretty good to me. The Holiday Ale and the Red Ale were milled on the same day and an employee...

    Very Inconsistent all grain efficiency

Hello everyone. I have had some very inconsistent with my all grain setup. I batch sparge, usually with a single infusion. I will mash in at 164 degrees so that my grainbed will hit 150 degrees. I then mash for 60 minutes, and stir up the mash at the 30 minute mark. I then get the initial runoff...

    Batch Sparging and mashing

When you are doing the single sparge do you still use the mahout temperature that BeerSmith states for all of your sparge water, or do you not do the full 202 degrees for example?

    Batch Sparging and mashing

That makes sense to me. So would it be OK to do a single sparge with all the water at 185? Otherwise I guess you would do the first sparge at 185 to raise the grainbed and the second sparge at 170. I only do double sparges if I have a large grainbill and can't fit all the water into the first...

    Batch Sparging and mashing

I followed these steps and got good efficiency. The only thing that concerns me is the sparging temperature is at 185-190 degrees instead of the 170 that I usually read about. Is that to improve efficiency? Would lowering that temperature drop efficiency? I have read that sparging that high can...

    New To Kegging- Aging Question

Hello, I recently purchased a kegerator and was wondering how everyone here ages their beer. Before I would just bottle my beer and let it age in the bottles. Now that I have kegs (and really don't want to bottle), how do most people age their beer? I don't want to tie up one of my kegs for...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Do you have the wiring diagram for how to have a split heat/cool plust two always on? This thread is so long, I don't know where to look. Lastly does anyone know if it would be good to use a fuse to protect the temperature controller from getting too much power. I don't have my unit yet, so I...

    Serving Soda in a Kegerator?

How about cider? Would I need to worry about off flavors from that?

    Serving Soda in a Kegerator?

Hi, I have a kegerator setup and in the past have only used it for beer. I have done some reading and people suggest that I at least get different lines to serve the soda from (25-30'). Will I need to worry about off flavors if I use my Perlick taps, kegs, and all connections (everything but the...

    BeerGas refill in Austin, TX

Thank you, but when I said Beer Gas I was talking about the nitro mix (75% nitrogen, 25% CO2)

    BeerGas refill in Austin, TX

Does anyone of a place where you can get BeerGas refills in Austin, TX. I tried calling Airgas and they only do exchanges and their tanks are quite large. I was hoping I could buy a smaller 28 cubic foot one off of kegconnection.com and get it filled, but I am having a hard time finding a...

Pin lock vs ball lock size (ordering tomorrow)

Hi guys, I plan on ordering parts for a 4 keg system tomorrow. I plan on creating a nice chest freezer keezer. Initially I was planning on just getting 4 pin lock style kegs, because I can get them for $25 cheaper each, but now that I think about it, when I look at pictures it seems like...

Building a Kegerator, I could use a parts review!

Hello everyone, I am building a 4 tap kegerator (3 regular, 1 nitro) and I recently did some pricing. It would be great if someone could look over my parts and tell me if I am missing anything important. Here is what I plan on picking up: 4 Ball Lock Kegs 2 Way Regulator 2 Way Distributor...

FG is supposed to be 1.011 but is 1.004?

Thank you PitchnGrin. I'm not really in any hurry so I will just wait another week (or 2).

FG is supposed to be 1.011 but is 1.004?

The reading that I took was today to make sure I didn't need to pitch anymore for my bottling on Sunday. It tastes OK, a bit off. I think the flavor was mostly the yeast that I got from the top of my bucket when I was taking my samples.
