American IPA Ithaca Flower Power Clone

While I was waiting for your reply I read through the whole thread and found my answer to the yeast. I also saw you switched some hops up as well. What recipe a you rolling with now a days?

American IPA Ithaca Flower Power Clone

Dumpsterboy, Plan to brew this on the fourth. A couple questions. Is there any reason why you deviated from what is listed on Ithaca's website for the hops and malts? I know it's not a huge difference, but I was wondering if you tried that originally and switched a couple items as you saw fit...

    DFH Midas Touch

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

Surprised me too. I typically do not have problems with clarity. It was my first time using 002.

NB Surly Furious Clone not turning out so well

I brewed this kit a while back and had similar results. Very disappointing when spending that much money. I originally attributed the error to it being my second AG batch. However, my first and third batches were fine. Not to mention you seem to be experiencing a similar profile. I am having...

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

I just used white labs 002 in my batch. Came out great. Everyone who try's it thinks its great. Only complaint is its a little more cloudy then I had wanted, but it's only an appearance thing. I will definitely be making it again soon using wyeast to see if there is a significant difference.

    Apricot Puree (Vitner's Harvest) Tartness

If you are looking for a good place to start with an apricot beer you should try northern brewer's apricot blonde. I think it's part of the master brewer series by breakwater??? Regardless, it's we're I started and I agree with what you said about the tartness. This is going to break your heart...

    Fruit Beer Watermelon Wheat

DubbelDach, Looking to brew this next weekend. Just wondering what the final verdict on the recipe is. I read early on a couple things about dropping the honey, maybe switching the grain bill a little. In your experience, am I better to stick with the OP or revising it slightly? If I were to...

    2006 Chimay Grande Reserve Value?

I was not planning to ship this item if I decided to part with it. Not only is it an awkward shape for proper packaging, but it's close to 15lbs of liquid in a glass bottle. I feel like there would be a high probability of damage to this item during shipping and really don't want to deal with it.

    2006 Chimay Grande Reserve Value?

I won this through a raffle at a beerfest just last weekend. I know little about Chimay and even less about there big bottles. I am also uncertain as if the vintage adds any value. So the question is what's this thing worth? Thanks in advance.

    Pittsburgh Beer related "must sees"

I will be in Pittsburgh this upcoming week for a conference. I'm looking to the locals to give me an insiders advantage of the must see locations while I am there. It will be the first time in Pittsburgh in awhile. Bars, breweries, brew pubs, bottle shops, etc.. Great places to eat for lunch...

Keezer collar build - is insulation necessary?

Here is a website with common building materials corresponding R-values. http://www.allwallsystem.com/design/RValueTable.html Notice all insulation material is greater than the 2" thick soft wood (pine) at 1" in thickness. I don't know how to quantify how long it would take to pay for itself...

Keezer collar build - is insulation necessary?

I had a 2x4 pine collar on mine last year. It was in my father's shop where the temperatures where a little harsh during summer. I never noticed any kind of condensation on the wood, even on the hottest days (the days where it would condensate instantly on the faucets). However, it could of been...

I plugged this into beersmith to give you an idea. Used wyeast 1056 as the yeast and a package date of today. Yeast cells without starter - 96 billion Yeast cells with 1l starter - 149 billion Yeast cells with 2l starter - 202 billion Hope this helps.

    Wyeast 1056 very aggresive?

I have used wyeast 1056 for a couple years now. Lately, in the past six months or so, I have noticed it has become significantly aggressive. When making 1L starters in a 2L flask, if I use a stir plate it's crazy. Even without a stir plate I have problems keeping it under control. I can barely...
