Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

Just completed my first brew day using the BrunDog condenser. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/boil-kettle-condenser-no-overhead-ventilation-needed.636955/ No steam issues, was able to maintain a rolling boil at 50% power, no element scorching at all. I'm very happy with the results...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Just completed a brew day using the condenser at it went awesome. No steam issues, was able to maintain a rolling boil at 50% power, no element scorching at all. I'm very happy with the results. Like Dockside_Brewing said it's not the best for removing odors. I couldn't open up any of my...

Where do I find my digital BYO-magazine?

Yeah, like I said the site is pretty bad. Hopefully they keep working on it and offer a way to download pdf copies of the magazine. They may not want to do that if they are worried about people sharing them with non-subcribers.

Where do I find my digital BYO-magazine?

The website is still very difficult to use. It really needs a lot of work. I also would like to get the entire magazine. Not sure why they can't offer a pdf copy of it. I'm not liking the change at all. I tried to search for an article from the Dec 2012 issue on Sierra Nevada and I can not...

    Rye IPA Recipe

Took the advice and got rid of the Chocolate malt and added Midnight Wheat for color. Still debating on whether to add any Crystal/Caramel. The Maris Otter should add a sweeter and maltier profile and the Rye should help with mouthfeel. Should I still add some Crystal/Caramel? Rye IPA...

    Rye IPA Recipe

I’m looking for a beer with a reddish color that’s why I chose the chocolate malt. What is a better malt to get the color with out any impact on flavor?

    Rye IPA Recipe

Yeah I’m only getting 65 - 67% efficiency, I have a Colorado Brewing System 25 gal Down Under. I was using the chocolate malt to get the reddish color I’m looking for. Would crystal do the same thing?

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Thanks for the update. I’m brewing my first batch using the condenser tomorrow. I’ll be using the 9 gph nozzle. I got approximately 1 gph boil off rate when I ran a test. I usually got 2 gph with the lid off. What was your boil off rate?

    Frozen Imperial Yeast

I called MoreBeer and they agreed to send me out replacement yeast. They are going to try and pack it insulated without any ice packs. Hopefully that will help. I’m really happy with their costumer service too.

    Frozen Imperial Yeast

Just received two cans of Imperial Yeast from MoreBeer and they are frozen. I’m thawing them out in the refrigerator. Does anyone have experience with using previously frozen Imperial Yeast? They are going to be used in a British Bitter with OG at 1.043 The cans are: A09 03Nov17 and A01 13Dec17

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Why did you decide to install it through the lid? You may have said in an earlier post, just can't remember. So far it's working very well on the side and it's easy to open the lid for hop additions. Can't beat a rolling boil at 50% power and no steam leaking out from the lid.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I built mine just like Dockside_Brewing. It works great! Take a look at this post: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/...o-from-co-brewing.575659/page-31#post-8171285

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I ran the element at 50% and I get a nice rolling boil. Normally I'd be running it at 78%. I'm using the 6 gph nozzle. No steam comes out around the lid and I'm not using a gasket. Wondering if I went with the 9 gph nozzle if the water going into the drain bucket would be a little cooler. I...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I agree! I was really struggling to come up with a ventilation solution for the area in my basement where I'll be brewing. I'm actually brewing my last batch out in the garage today. I may still install a small fan in the basement just to help with odors, but I'm not really worried about it...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I'm a little concerned about drilling the hole in the kettle. I bought the 42 mm drill bit from SS Brewtech so hopefully everything goes smoothly. Did you have any issues with the 1.5" weldless bulkhead sealing against the kettle wall? SS Brewtech mentioned a lot about using the fitting on a...
