You took a nap during your boil? I would be too paranoid about something happening while the wort was boiling.I don't think I could fall asleep.

    My Holiday Brew

I have used vanilla in the secondary with good results. What I was looking for was a subtle vanilla flavor to balance the chocolate/coffee flavors in my stout. If you add it at bottling time it will be a little more upfront and noticeable. So I guess it depends on what you want the vanilla to do.

    Homebrew shops in baltimore?

Plenty of good beer bars in Baltimore just no home brew shops.

    My Holiday Brew

Let us know if you get a lot of vanilla flavor/characteristics in this beer. I'm curious as to how it will hold up in a 10 minute boil. I've usually seen people add it to a secondary or at kegging/bottling.

    Beer Belly

In terms of BMI which doesn't account for muscle mass...that linebacker is obese. But I agree they are in the best shape out of any other position.

    Literary References to Homebrewing

Also not in a book but there is a minor character on How I Met You Mother in the later seasons who homebrews. Also the main character in the show Ted, his father is a homebrewer.

    Unintentional Aging?

My guess is the dry hopped beer for 6 months probably has a vegetable matter/ unpleasant grassy flavor. But that's just a guess seeing that most dry hop schedules are around 7 to 10 days. Not sure about the other two.

What beer kicked your a$$ lately?

Just started kegging and thought it would be a good idea to keg a 8.5% double ipa. Needless to say the novelty of having a keg of homebrew makes me want to drink more than I probably should.

    2008 Ten Fidy Keg

Nothing to worry about! Pull the trigger and buy the keg and enjoy! Hell it's $15 for a 4 pack a keg at the price you're going to pay is worth it!

    Northern Brewer kits

Austin Homebrew has their version as well, not sure of the price though.

    Stone 16th Anniversary IPA!

I must say I am a little upset with Stone though. When they released the Smoked Porter variations (vanilla and chili peppers) they did not distribute to MD and therefore I was unable to try them. Anyone able to try those? Good? Bad? Meh?

    Rum Soaked American Oak Cubes

So I recently purchased these rum soaked oak cubes from AHS. http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_24_32_335&products_id=12881 These things came packaged with rum still dripping off the oak cubes. The rum aroma is strong even through the plastic bag. I'm very excited to...
