    Potential infections from BIAB

Yeah, was trying to think if it was something I did post boil that I don't do when doing extracts etc and couldn't think of anything. Use same chiller etc I don't treat the water, it is from a fresh water well at the in laws. Plus I use it for the extracts brews too. I'll let it sit for a week...

    Potential infections from BIAB

Something I've given no consideration to I must admit, was gonna get a few more brews under my belt before looking into water treatments But this might speed that up

    Potential infections from BIAB

Evening all Have done 2 BIAB batches, a SMASH Citra and a recipe kit American Amber. Citra smash fermented well but noticed an off taste when I kegged it. Had a more experienced brewer taste it after a few weeks and he said it was infected but couldn't identify it. In fairness it was really...

    Recipe help please

Yeah, initial plan was to do BIAB in an 18l pot but then got thinking to do a mash then sparge and would use a smaller pot/s. Mash tun would just be a small stainless pot with a jacket thrown over it. Fermenter is a 5 litre carboy No clue about what OG should be as it's a premixed kit with no...

    Recipe help please

So, made a purchase of this 1 stovetop AG kit: https://www.geterbrewed.ie/stove-top-ingredient-kit-multi-hop-pleasure/ Thought it might come with instructions for mash water amounts etc but no such luck. Admittedly I'm a follow the numbers type of guy so despite trying to do the calculations I...

    Using AG recipes for BIAB

Thanks for answer. Have done 2 BIABS so far but guess I'm just looking for an easy way of finding my next recipe without doing many calculations myself as I see so many recipes for a style I might like to try but it might be for a batch sparge method etc

    Using AG recipes for BIAB

Say I see a recipe for a particular brew using a mash and sparge method, if I wanted to do a no sparge BIAB of that recipe is it as simple as adding the initial mash water and sparge amounts to get the strike water amount for a no sparge BIAB?

What I did for beer today

Cheers, but I must admit I care not an ounce for rugby, even though I played it in my youth. Still, keeps them alive in the 6 nations so will keep people happy

What I did for beer today

2nd BIAB, an American amber mash kit from HBS store here in Ireland Hit numbers pretty well but hiccup at the end with fermentation bucket. Hopefully won't be crucial but be annoying if it ruins the beer. Anyway, happy enough and think it'll be fine
  16. C

    So who's brewing this weekend?

2nd BIAB just done, 5 gallons American amber Love the process, pretty much done in under 4 hours
  17. C

How many gallons brewed in 2019!

    1409 + 5 gallons American amber = 1414
  18. C

    BIAB first timer

Didn't bin it yet, but checked again and it is very off. Not sure if it is acetyldehyde, never had one go like this before I'll get somebody in the know to have try and see what they say it might be
