Excellent, cheers. Every day is a school day

    Fermzilla: When to apply pressure

Cool, makes sense. So if doing an ale what should I be doing? Use an airlock setup like normal at the start? And then switching to spunding valve near the end?

    Fermzilla: When to apply pressure

Cool Have seen videos of people applying various levels of Co2 to speed up fermentation and avoid esters etc, still trying to get head around it

    Fermzilla: When to apply pressure

Sorry if I'm missing something, I usually do, but am I letting the pressure build up naturally or applying it using Co2? Have the pressure kit and a spunding valve

    Fermzilla: When to apply pressure

Planning to use new acquired Fermzilla for first time next week for a partial APA Not used it before or done pressure fermentation and have tried to find out as much as possible online. Not trying to achieve anything in particular with regards to speeding up process or the like, more just get to...

    FermZilla or Catalyst

Just out of interest, when does one generally start applying the pressure during fermentation? From beginning? A few days in? Reading different things and want to start fermenting under pressure soon. Am doing a partial APA next week and want to start using my Fermzilla properly

    FermZilla or Catalyst

Cheers for answer I might pick one up to have alongside the Fermzilla, €39 so not too bad at all

    FermZilla or Catalyst

Bought a 27 litre Fermzilla a few weeks back and hope to use it next week for first time. Got pressure kit too Must admit am looking forward to getting into using it, even if I have plenty to learn about pressure fermentation. Out of interest what is so good about the Fermonster? Value for money?

    How does my water look

Got a basic water test last year. I realise these values can change over time but how does it stack up? I brew mainly hoppy pales and have never been totally happy with the results. Have spent the last few days trying to get my head around the water side of things but must admit am getting a bit...

What I did for beer today

Bottled an NEIPA kit and dry hopped an AG pale. Slight astringent taste off the pale but only a week in so hopefully clears up

    So who's brewing this weekend?

BIAB pale ale first thing this morning, first in a year. Nearly went belly up, was using hop spider for first time but managed to spill them all into brew kettle and then they clogged up the kettle outlet. So got a sieve and turned kettle upside down to save the day. Hopefully no harm done

When to add isomerised hop oil?

Cheers for your reply, makes sense When you say boil though, I assume you mean when I add the extract as I'm just adding those to 3 litres of boiling water and then topping up to 20 litres or so. Edit: got instructions from supplier so all good. Thanks

When to add isomerised hop oil?

Hi, just purchased an NEIPA kit from an online store. https://www.geterbrewed.ie/neipa-beer-kit/ No instructions and contains the hop extract so not sure when to add it. Seen different opinions elsewhere online. Any help much appreciated

    Potential infections from BIAB

Alas nothing to report yet, 3 month old child in the house so no recent brew days. Hopefully ready to go again soon so will defitinely report results

How long after crushing would you use grains?

Long story short, have some AG mash kits for a few weeks and due to constraints, namely a 7 week old child, have not had a chance to brew. They've been stored at around 20c in a dark place, although they didn't come in completely sealed bags. It's been at least 3 weeks now too Dump or use...

What I did for beer today

Had strike water for a BIAB at 60c when the gas went, better than after I'd mashed in I suppose
