    Are you confusing your mash temp (155 sounds about right) with your strike temp ( should be higher than mash temp to account for losses due to grain/mash tun/ambient around 170)? Check out some free software like brewers friend or beer smith free trial which will calculate mash infusion water...

    What I did for beer today

    Got my ss parts and silicone tubing for my mash tun from Austin Homebrew. Also picked up grains hops and yeast for 5 gal AG batches of blue moon clone, chocolate stout, and biermunchers centennial blonde. Gonna be busy!

    No one was hurt, just my pride. I think the carboy was sanitized with really low temp water from my basement spigot, so even though I cooled the wort maybe the differential was too great? The car boy was a hand me down so maybe here was a micro crack or something, oh well I still have two fivers...
