Recurrent contamination, can't get rid of it :(

Yeah, good thought with the water. I use 5 gallons purified bottled water. The thing is that I've been using the same water all this time and I got good results with my first brews so it's a bit unlikely unless of course the water has changed somehow :/ What kind of analysis can I make to...

Recurrent contamination, can't get rid of it :(

Good thought, I'm guessing it's either the water getting inside the spigot somehow or the bucket having something hidden somewhere because I don't use a siphon, I just lift the kettle and splash to the bucket so no problem there. Weird thing is when I smell the buckets even after cleaning the...

Recurrent contamination, can't get rid of it :(

Yeah the flavor is already there even before the beer goes through the spigot and I've tasted young beers. I know when it's young and needs more time, the flavors change a lot but in this particular series of batches, the flavor and smell come soft at first, and then develop in the bottle...

Recurrent contamination, can't get rid of it :(

The off taste comes already by sampling before bottling and then after conditioning for 2 - 3 weeks in the bottle the taste is pretty much the same if not even worse. If I open a bottle and let it get warmer as I drink it, the taste is even more pronounced, a weird sourness I think it is and...

Recurrent contamination, can't get rid of it :(

Hmmm probably but not likely, my buckets are always in rotation so I only have one free bottling bucket and the others get used after bottling the beer with a brand new batch. I wish I could explain the off flavor better, but i'm not quite savvy with those yet. I just know something's wrong...

Recurrent contamination, can't get rid of it :(

Alright! good questions. The first good batched we made had nothing floating around like that. All the recipes have been below 30 IBUS, so it's not hop bitterness for sure. The american brown was like 20 IBUS only, yet had some weird off flavor there and many people have tried it and think it's...

Recurrent contamination, can't get rid of it :(

Hi everyone! I'm coming here because I've tried cleaning the hell out of everything but I'm still getting contaminations. The most frustrating thing is that I'm getting them across my 3 buckets (Fermentors) after primary. I get this weird bitterness every time and it hides the malty flavor...

Poor head retention, everything seems ok?

Maybe it's because of the yeast cleanup phase, I guess ramping up makes them work faster but I wouldn't like to stress them out :P I guess I'll keep my temps constant since I've been getting good results. The only downside is having to change iced bottles all the time haha. I got some swamp...

Poor head retention, everything seems ok?

At least now I have a lot of variables to play with haha. I'll try without using Soap, conditioning in the bottle for a little longer and maybe kegging someday. I'm not really into kegging right now because I have no equipment and can't really afford it for now but I'll probably look into it...

Poor head retention, everything seems ok?

I also knew that high alcohols tend to be head killers which explains why my first brew had almost no head but since then, I've been fermenting with US05 and 04 at 62F - 70F Max so thats not a reason. I'm going with the soap I guess, because body is ok, taste is ok, only glassware and equipment...

Poor head retention, everything seems ok?

Good to know! and yes, all the dishes are being washed with dish soap. Guess I've been making a mistake by washing the buckets and equipment with soap. I'm from Mexico so PBW is a little hard to come by and a bit expensive but I guess I'll get a hold of some when I get the chance. Thanks for...

Poor head retention, everything seems ok?

Excellent tip, next time I place an order online I'll get some wheat, either flaked or malted and check the results. Thank you everyone, you've been really helpful.

Poor head retention, everything seems ok?

I thought about glassware too, but I tried like 6 different glasses. A couple of curvy ones for beer, others straight regular glasses and same thing happened. I've tried plenty of other commercial beers, handcraft and not and actually last weekend I tried one that held the head forever! Any...

Poor head retention, everything seems ok?

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum, I have some experience if I could say so myself brewing. I have about 8 batches (5 gallon) out of which 7 are all - grain. I've been adjusting a few things throughout my learning process and so far so good really, no contaminations so far and good beer...
