    Infected??

The film floating on top is most likely from the dry hopping IMO. Looks fine to me too.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Enjoying the fruits of our labour. The neighbour/brew partner and I enjoying a split 10 gal batch. He fermented a 5 at his house and I did 5 at mine. They both came out exactly the same despite different primary/secondary temps. Great recipe.

    Did I create bottle bombs?

Use a full one. Too much headspace in a half bottle. I pretty much made the same mis calculation thing once. Turned out ok, but use flip tops and when I realised what I had done I put most of them in empty coolers separating the bottles with wads of newspaper. Take precaution when opening them...

Worst Homebrewing Mistakes - HBT Article

Laughed so hard I started crying.. Started laughing uncontrollably again .. recovered and recalled I've done this at least 3 times... Complete a full brew, then realise that my smackpack yeast is still in the fridge unsmacked. Keep adding hot water to raise a low mash temp then realise the...

Adding Sugar to a Red Ale

I was picturing 4 cups of raw brown sugar being dumped into primary after 5 days.. I'm not sure that will enhance the flavor profile much, as well as making it a pretty heavy beer. My main concern was risking infection for the benefit of bumping up the ABV. IMO, but I'm not a guru by any stretch...

Adding Sugar to a Red Ale

Nope. Your fermentables should have been added before pitching the yeast, preferably at or before flameout. 4 cups of brown sugar is alot of sugar, I wouldn't even add that at flameout! Welcome to the hobby, and the forums my fellow Canadian. Brew on. Enjoy that Red when it's ready.

    Panic panic!

Regardless the OP needs to Google "blow off tube" wine or beer, that's the help needed. Then get a bigger fermenter for head space.

    how bad is it?

Don't take it out of the keezer to defrost it. Set your temp at your regular carbing temp or higher, take it off gas for a few days and let it defrost while cold to cool. If you warm it too quickly you can damage the keg.

Mash tun metal nut is corroded. Help?

I can't see the pic. But if it's not stainless steel, it should be. Green corrosion says to me it's either copper or brass. Not good for sitting in liquids for extended periods unless it's treated as copper pipe and fittings are.

    Another am I stuck?

Agreed. But nothing wrong with waiting a week or more and upping the temps as PLOVE says. Sometimes patients pays off, and other times it doesn't, but hopefully nothing is lost by waiting or if that fails Re pitching.
