Was out of state, here is what I scored.

Great idea -- I appreciate the suggestion. And I'll do it. Some of them have a "drink by" date. I didn't look most of the dates on the bottle, but this store is so huge and is reviewed as not tremendously careful with their beer dates, so I kind of accepted that some of them might not be...

Take a look at the beer selection from this state, for example. http://www.ratebeer.com/BestInMyArea.asp?CountryID=213&StateID=24 @paulthenurse there is no big secret - I was just being dramatic. (dramatic, but still honest, I really can't get those in my state).

Was out of state, here is what I scored.

The Stingo was good for sure -- but reminded me too much of Southern Comfort, and I had a bit of a problem getting over that.... (interpret that how you will).

Was out of state, here is what I scored.

It did cost, but as I said I can't get any of that here, so ... It's a "stock up" sort of mantra. And in case you didn't see my other thread, my wife doesn't support drinking, so that beer will literally last me almost a year. It's ok... that topic is in that thread, not this one. So it'll...

Was out of state, here is what I scored.

Well I can promise you there is one state where one can't purchase Dogfish head or Stone or Rogue.

Was out of state, here is what I scored.

I mean, I just can't get this kind of stuff here. So I took advantage. And now me = broke. But still some good tasting soon. :D Also pursuant to the other thread I started not long ago, YES, this beer is going to be lasting me a LONG TIME. But, that's ok. At...

Brew Day 1, Finally Finished (and I'm bushed).

And finally, some random fun bottling shots. And my favorite: So, bottling done. They're still all in the kitchen. I guess it made about 44-46 bottles (I am drawing a blank right now), and there was one bottle that was about 10 of 12 oz, so I'm consuming it right now...

Brew Day 1, Finally Finished (and I'm bushed).

So I stirred and stirred all the while sanitizing my bottles and all the other stuff that will touch beer and hands. It's a pain but not really hard -- not harder than brew day in my opinion. I mean everyone seems to rail so hard on bottle day. To me it was just another step toward me...

Brew Day 1, Finally Finished (and I'm bushed).

Well I went on vacation right about when it was time for me to bottle, so I cleared out some space and since it just worked out, cold crashed the fermented beer for the week+ I was gone. Should work out nicely.... And so today it was time to bottle. I managed to break the first 2 things...

Brew Day 1, Finally Finished (and I'm bushed).

I am getting ready to bottle and I was going to take a gravity reading. Nothing I have is deep enough! I have no idea what to use... The only thing I have deep enough is a 48oz container and I don't really want to use that (and "waste" 48 oz of the beer). Anyway I tasted it and...

    SWMBO says....

I wish I was trolling, quite frankly. But I'm not. This argument has raged for the last 2 days in my house, really. Honestly I just pretty much gave up (and in). Whatever. it's not worth it. And I can't say what "it" is that's not worth it, or what it's not worth... but it's bigger than...

    SWMBO says....

Yes: Afraid I'll become (or am) an alcoholic. And yes, what I have nearing the end of it's fermentation right now is a Belgian Tripel. :D

She knits, so either that would be a) great or b) me "stealing" her [acceptable] hobby.

    SWMBO says....

One beer every 1.5 weeks, that is the rate she said is acceptable. Well this 5 gallon batch will at least get a year and a half age on it.

This makes me Pavlov. What does that make her?? ;) GREAT point there sir. Thank you for that input. Much appreciated.

    SWMBO says....

Which she would interpret as two things. 1) I put beer above her, which proves 2) I have an alcohol problem. Diplomatic is the only way to address this one...

    SWMBO says....

I talked to her about it today (imagine that huh!) and she says it's because she doesn't want me to become an alcoholic.

    SWMBO says....

Ok just to follow up on some questions and address possibilities... I am not a jerk when I drink (any more than usual, and I don't really consider myself a jerk generally). Neither of her parents were alcoholics. I have a granddad who was (who was dead by the time I was born), and a...

    SWMBO says....

Due to comments earlier in the day I think it could be related to waistline (but... I'm still pretty thin anyway). Also I have taken up swimming and do laps and all that (also still learning to swim more or less). So I'm countering the beer w/ swimming.... MY wife = not interested in...

    Jeff Buckley?

Every time those idiots on American Idol sing Hallelujah I tell my wife that I like Buckley's version the BEST. She always replies with the very very obnoxious comment "you just like his best because you heard it first". As if I'm completely incapable of discerning which I like the best, and...
