HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Elkoe, seriously. Put a donation button up and I will give you my money. This project is worth everything I've paid for it so far :) I would also like to contribute on the heater side, too. And if you are ever in the Bay Area, CA, you're welcome to come by for beer :mug:

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

If you do dmesg that will just pull the message logs. You can find where the arduino connects and (potentially) disconnects. The output from mine after a reboot looks like: [ 7.617174] ftdi_sio 1-2:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected [ 7.622345] usbcore: registered new...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Check dmesg | tail and see if there's an issue with arduino connection. I have this problem with mine because of the crappy USB hub.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Anyone know if you can share a single one wire DS18b20 bus across two arduinos? I *think* it can be done based on a single test that I did for 5 minutes. That would enable 1 DS18b20 to measure external temp for freezer and fridge.

USB hubs. Anyone have a recommendation on one that does work? I can say *don't* use one of these http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005C32NMS/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 It doesn't work - drops the signal every once in a while, then it will work if I replug. Junk. Also, I was using a...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Okay, wiped everything and reinstalled from git, redid permissions etc. It now works. Also, I suspect that I should have named my cron file the same as my script location (e.g. 'fridge') having done all that, it now works. Thanks daytrippr, et al!:rockin:

This one? https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/howto-make-brewpi-fermentation-controller-cheap-466106/index140.html#post6314307 I'm following that, and everything works except launching the script from the web interface. Also, it's probably worth noting that (if you are going to update the...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Hey gang, I'm having trouble with my multiple instances install. Everything works, except launching the script from the web interface. Any thoughts as to why? I've got basically everything chown'ed to brewpi, and most everything is chmod'ed to 777. Thanks, JR

Fuzze, you are my hero! We should actually have a wiki for this stuff, rather than a couple o' forums, etc I'll post up some dual 'duino side by side fridge action as soon as my new supplies come in from spamazon :)

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Yes, but you'll need 2 arduinos, 2x the temp sensors, and 2x the actuators. I'm building mine to control a side by side fridge. I'll update the thread when I make some progress :)

Need some help on converting a side by side fridge to kegerator/ferm chamber

I'm looking to turn my side by side fridge into a side by side kegerator and fermentation chamber. I have a whirlpool ed25tq side by side fridge What I need to understand is how the freezer maintains its temperature. Does it A) have a simple thermostat so that it keeps one temperature...

Try wrapping the cables in aluminum foil. That might help.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

What sensors are you using? DS18b20's can have problems with interference. Try shielding the cable for your sensor.

    Brewing water question

Thanks for the feedback and for the Bru'n water link. I don't know the pH of my water. Is that something I can measure myself with test strips? Alternatively, could I just use pH5.2 assuming I use some of this stuff: ph stabilizer or is it better to avoid that product without knowing first...

    Brewing water question

Hi all, I'm getting ready to do my first brew day in my new house (in Mountain House, CA) but I'm getting a bit stuck on my water. I think it's pretty soft, so I was going to include a bit of acid to lower my mash PH. I'm curious what, if any, corrections I'm likely to need. The water...

    Very interesting product

I came across the kickstarter for the synek today, and I have to say, it seems like an awesome idea. I think you guys might not be the target customer. Think of a micro or nano brewery looking to get some distribution. 40% of the cost of a beer is its packaging, Synek *could* reduce that barrier...

Any interest in starting new open source automated brewing project...for propane?

Hey guys, I thought you might be interested that (at long last?) I've updated my code for the automated BIAB system. I decided to make a new branch in Github to host the new code for the automated arduino brew in a bag system because it's different enough from the old system...
