Biggest Flip Top bottle I have ever seen

That's double the bomber price and $40 for the fancy bottle.:fro:

    New to Brew

Here is a simple light full body beer. The extract version is on the first page. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f66/centennial-blonde-simple-4-all-grain-5-10-gall-42841/ Keep your fermenter in the mid 60's and don't forget to crush the grains and properly steep them, get a rolling boil, add...

5.5 amp drill for my Malt mill?

I used it over the weekend. The pros: -heavy duty enough -speed setting is slow enough (I used setting 2 because setting 1 was getting bogged down due to the crusher sticking) -it has a lock for the trigger -has a fan to cool down the motor. I didn't smell burn so that's a plus -I...

    No chill "chilling" ????

I wouldn't drain anything hot into a bucket or glass container. My simple 3/8" wort chiller took about 45 minutes to get to 70 over the weekend in a keggle. Turn the hose on low and forget about it.

    First Batch Q & A

you need to check gravity before racking it. and look up centennial blonde. btw the carribou slobber is very easily drinkable just a little tart though.

    Tired of being "close"!

Bottled beer usually clears with time. Let the cloudy beer sit for a couple months in a closet and then put it in the fridge for a few weeks. Flat beer may be a result of impatience assuming you added the priming sugar at the time when you bottled. Also, I hope you stored those bottles at...

    First Batch Q & A

I'm assuming the fementation is not done yet. Let it hang out and don't touch it until it's finished. I don't age in a fermenter. The bottle or keg ages fine.

    Muntons

I would not personally boil one. The hops are already cooked in there and boiling is going to do something mysterious to them. My experience is that it won't come out right. I'd make a full boil beer and add the can to the flameout or midway during cool down. Or just roll both cans together...

Mold in keg full of beer

I'd be staring inside my keg right now if I were you. Another source is a line that has not been in use for a while and you didn't clean it before tapping.

    too much headspace

That beer looks kind of dark from here. Did it stop fermenting and drop out good before racking it? There is nothing wrong with secondary, but you should get a good primary only batch under your belt first so that you know how to avoid racking early.;)

To boil or not to boil. That is the question.

You have to mix the wort properly and hot water will do that. I think you have to pressure cook the jars. I would not trust storage of that unfermented wort for more than a couple of weeks otherwise. It seems like too much fuss to me. I make starters in no time flat. Flask, water, funnel...

Hop particles in dry-hopped beer. help

You can always bottle up the first few until the hop particles mostly dissapear from the keg and then let them age/chill a few weeks until they form sediment.

5.5 amp drill for my Malt mill?

I'm getting and using it tomorrow so we'll see. I don't care if I have to hold the trigger, but my rigid is a pain in the butt to try to keep from spinning too fast so I'm expecting this one to work.

    Over fermentation

Fermenting temps, time and yeast/ aeration will all help determine how long it takes to finish. Get a hydrometer and use it before you bottle to see if the beer is ready. If it gets cold , the fermentation may have stalled out and restarted with the extra sugar at bottling. That would cause...

    One week since primary fermentation

What is the beer and what was the OG? And what is cooling off the wort?

    Over fermentation

Your problem sounds to me like you don't wait until it finishes before bottling.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I guess 9 days is too early. This one was way too green.:p It was carbonated and drinkable but somewhat tastless. After I finish crashing it a few more days, I'm pulling it to age for a month. Hopefully there is some hop flavor in there somewhere. If not I'll dry hop.

5.5 amp drill for my Malt mill?

That one in the OP appears to be good enough depending on the "variable speed" being low enough and at high enough torque. I am buying this one on Saturday because my B&D 20 volt cordless burned up after 3 batches...

    garage drain to yard?

I rinse my keggle into a dirt section in my backyard and it doesn't stink or anything. The hops kind of hang out though so after a while I'll just rake it around. If you have wet conditions that stay wet for a while and muddy soils then it may be a bad idea. Mold will grow on the sugars if it...

    Is this possible??!

You said 72% efficiency. How did you get that? What was the SG at preboil? My guestimate 5.4 equivelant gravity to the measured 4.5 gravity of 1.072 is 1.067 which is not that far off from the 1.072, so it's possible that you mismeasured a little on the volumes (probably the kettle).
