Dented / Dropped Oxygen Regulator fix?

How many threads are damaged? You may be able to file the entire bottom until the damaged threads are removed. Just be sure there are enough left to safely thread onto the bottle. have any pictures of the damage?

    Worst Part About Homebrewing

For me its got to be running out of home brew while parts are in the mail for the new mash tun and boil kettle. Now that the parts are here I need a few weeks of weekends to get the welding finished.

    Made myself an Immersion chiller

Tindel, Not sure what your budget or brew system is, but the absolute most efficient wort chiller is a plate chiller, followed closely by a counter flow chiller. If you do use an immersion chiller you can always collect the outflow water for cleaning or for a load of laundry.

My beer has chunks in it!

US-05 is not known as being the most flocculant yeast. Leave a beer in the fridge for a day or two and see how it is.

    Are my keggles ruined?

It should be ok for anything on the hot side of your brewery. The only concern I would have is the mash tun and the need to clean it. The boil kettle self sanitizes during the boil and the HLT never has wort in it. Keep at them with a flap wheel and BKF. You seem to be well on your way to a...

    Are my keggles ruined?

The "sugaring" that you see is caused by stainless being welded with too many amps and not enough shielding gas on the back side of the weld. Its not the end of the world for a boil kettle. Is the fitting that was welded in stainless? If it is steel that could explain the rust. Make sure...

My beer has chunks in it!

Glad the beer is delicious. It would be helpful if you could describe a few parts of your procedure. How long was the beer in primary before you bottled? What yeast did you use? Do you store the bottles on their side or upright? The yeast should settle to the bottom with ~48hrs in the...

Greetings from Coeur d Alene Idaho

Welcome to HBT. I have many great memories of summer days on Lake Coeur d'Alene. My grandparents live on Spirit Lake in the summer. Love that area.

    Dip Tube Paranoia

Unless you have a hose to pull a siphon the water flow will stop at when the level in the kettle is the same as the valve on the dip tube. Put a length of tubing on the valve long enough to reach below the bottom of the kettle and it should pull all the way to the bottom of the dip tube.

How to Make the Most of a Sanke

A lid on a boil kettle is not just over rated its not desired. If you cover the kettle while the wort is boiling you will be trapping volatile compounds that can lead to off flavors in the beer. The most noticeable being DMS.

How to Make the Most of a Sanke

NOOOOO. Leave it as a 15.5 gallon kettle. You will kick yourself later if you cut it down. I still do 5 gallon brews in a converted keg. Sweet score btw.:rockin:

My brother sent this link to me since, as a homebrewer who kegs, I have all of the required parts. Have not tried it yet but looking forward to it. Anyone else thought of this or tried it?

    Calculating water volume

The .2 accounts for grain absorption in the mash tun. The .96 is for loss of volume due to the cooling of the wort and at the moment i forget the reason for dividing by .925, I have it written down at home. I see that your question is about sparge calculations. Beersmith has a good tool for...
