    Fermenting in a corny keg?

I’m planning on doing the same, 3 gal batches in a 5 gal corny. My plan is to build a spunding valve for the gas out port. I saw a thread here the other day where someone was talking about using a magnet to hold a stir rod in a hop sock to do dry hop additions. I will probably give that a try.

    Pitch too warm

I’ve been doing no chill batches for over a year and have been super happy with my results. No buying ice, using water baths or immersion chillers. Just let the kettle sit covered overnight, dump and pitch the next morning. I spray the outside of my kettle with alcohol to make sure it is...

    Anyone completely self sufficient?

For a very long time when I wasn’t brewing I could usually find an abundant supply of good craft beer for decent prices. However, I have noticed in the past maybe five or so years that the price of commercial beer has skyrocketed. That and the influx of hard soda water taking up space in the...

    Anyone completely self sufficient?

Just curious who here brews 100% of the beer they drink? Not counting nights out. My goal is to get to the point where I am making all the beer I drink at my house. I have significant gains to make in output, and losses for input to get there.

5 gal keg for fermenting 2.5 gal batches

Thanks for the responses, I didn’t know if 2.5 gallons would have too much headspace in a 5 gallon keg. I’ve seen those floating draw tubes too and thought that may be a good option. How do you all dry hop inside these? We are moving the summer so I’ll probably switch over once we are settled...

5 gal keg for fermenting 2.5 gal batches

Hi all, I am looking to up my batch sizes from 1.3 gallon to 2.5 gallon. I am think of to packaging in 2.5 gallon kegs, and fermenting in a 5 gallon corny so I can do pressure ferments and low O2 transfers. Any thoughts on using a 5 gallon keg. Will that be too much headspace for say a 3...

    Decided to stop lurking

Hi all, I started brewing about 15 years ago, but took a long hiatus until about a year ago. Since then I have done about 10 small batch brews and I am really enjoying getting back into home brewing. I’ve been lurking around for a while, and finally figured I would join the conversation.
