    Yeast Starter

Just the grain for the kit. I think I will do as you suggested, stop by the LHBS and get a pack of activator and pitch it along with the propagator.

    Yeast Starter

I am planning on brewing tomorrow afternoon/evening. I pulled my Wyeast out of the fridge and noticed it is a Propagator and not an Activator. I haven't done a starter before. I have read the instructions and it seems simple enough. I know it is recommended but do I have to do it? I don't...

Beer for People that Don't Like Beer

Try to appease her with some apfelwein first and then move her to the brews. If she still doesn't like it, pitch her like you would a yeast. Next!

    Ed Wort's Apfelwein

Yours looks a lot more clear than the batch I brewed on 3/23. I also have a ton of sediment on the bottom (Almost 2 inches). I used turbinado sugar since my wife is allergic to corn sugar. Maybe that has something to do with my color and sediment.

What's the longest you've ever aged a homebrew?

I had an ESB that lasted about 18 months before I drank the last bottle. It was excellent. The guy at my LHBS told me this weekend he had some 10 year old apfelwein that was excellent.

    Greetings from Orlando

I am near downtown and have been brewing for about 7 years but just now joined this forum. Hearts is a decent place. They aren't real friendly but they are local and can help out in a pinch. The less you ask them the friendlier they are. What is your first batch going to be?

    20 LB CO2 Tank

Ugh. It doesn't say Coke on it but it does say Pepsicola (kind of engraved towards the top). I wonder if I will have a problem getting it filled. If all I have to do is paint it, what color and type of paint should I use?

    20 LB CO2 Tank

I just got back from picking it up. The tank and regulator appear to be in good shape. I am relieved to be done with washing bottles. Thanks for the advice! Len

    20 LB CO2 Tank

Thanks. It sounded like a really good deal and I hear the larger the tank, the cheaper they are to fill. I am not worried about a kegerator since I can pick up a full size auxiliary fridge to put in the garage for real cheap.

    20 LB CO2 Tank

I am ready to start kegging and I friend offered me a 20lb CO2 tank with 2 gauge regulator and hoses for $60. That seems like a really good price. Is there any drawback to a 20lb tank? It seems like everyone uses 5 and 10 lbers.
