    Brew Apps for Android

I don't pay for homebrew talk forums for android, its great I rarely use my computer for it. Brewersfriend.com is awsome but they don't have an app I don't think.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I just started bottling my first batch and was going to bottle prime it but its already partially carbed. But since the plastic bottles didn't get too hard when I shook them I added 3/8ths tsp of sugar to each 12 oz bottle It smells great! I'm going to put a few of the still ones straight into...

Maple syrup in my moose drool clone?

Okay, I think I will leave the recipe as its meant but will carbonate a 6 pk or 12 pk with the syrup and see what the diff is. Then I can taste the carabou slobber glory as well as the syrup experiment. Thanks for the honest advice!

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I am going to siphon some I made out of 2 two-liter bottles and put 2 cans of frozen applejuice concentrate in each one with half a can of grapefruit juice concentrate back ontop of the yeast, maybe a bit of brown sugar. I read somewhere that I can just put more juice on the yeast a few times...

Maple syrup in my moose drool clone?

Is there anything specifically I need to look for? I don't know anything about syrup.

Maple syrup in my moose drool clone?

Has anyone added maple syrup to beer to up the abv and add maple flavor? I have the tommyknockers maple nut brown in mind. How much would I add to the 5 gallon recipe? (From northern brewer, "carabou slobber"). Should I prime with it? Also if this is just a bad idea let me know. Also I am...

    Where's American craft brewing heading?

I've been seeing a lot more barrel aged brews around. A brewery in the quad cities ages one of their brews in old templeton rye barrels. I've heard of places using old wine barrels too. I tried a stout this weekend with oak chips in it. I would like to try using some wood chips myself at...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I will be getting back home today so I will probably know whether it has been going or not when I get back. I am curious about this too because I bet it will be smoother faster if I can use a couple spoons of aj concentrate instead of cane sugar. Would I use the same ratio of concentrate to...

    No hops brew

That's what I have heard about IPAs as well. My brother hates over hopped beers and always tells me how it was used to aid presevation. "Too much hops is a$$" he says lol.

    Brewing extract with lost directions

Unless you have seperate hops to add to the boil there is no need to boil once the hme (hopped malt extract) is added. Geneally instructions will be to bring a third or so of the water to a boil then add the lme and immidiately remove from the boil.

    Oatmeal Stout Primary Time

I think 3 weeks is a safe bet with standard gravity brews. Does anyone pour the beer you check the gravity on back into the fermentor if you fully sanitize the tube and hydro? I have been paranoid with it most of the time, but recently I have been doin this with the 1 gal apfelwein recipes I've...

    bayou classic

I plan on putting the whole process online in the next couple of weeks including evey tool I use; spoon, bowls, pots, and how much wate I've used for how many lbs grain. It can be intimidating to a new brewer (I'm still new, I ve been brewing for about a year n a half starting w mr beer) to see...

    bayou classic

That's what I use to brew! I finally tried a 5 gallon batch a few weeks ago (had old grain n said screw it, I learn fastest when I have to), I use around 4.5 gallons in the mash, then I rinse and drain the bag into a seperate pot. I boil the 2nd pot for a couple minutes then cool that n pitch...

white film on top of Holiday Ale

Despite what some believe secondary fermentation is only necessary for certain beers high gravity or fruit beers specifically. Not sure if your holiday ale needed one or not but leaving beer on primary can be safer. I've never done secondary, although there have been times I probably should've...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Hmm, I will have to go to the store and check since I threw the bottles out already. I don't think it was generic necessarily it was originally 3$ a half gallon before managers special and said which orchard it was from, but I don't know anything about any of that... I wonder how/if it will turn...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I've read to wait until the oranges drop or at least 2 months. I've only done one batch, started it in september and bottled it early this month a week or so after the oranges dropped. One week in bottles made a huge difference, I wasn't sure id like it because I tasted it when I bottled and...
