    Secondary Fermentation

I've never done secondary, the only time I should've was with my blueberry hefeweizen since I added fruit. Yea these forums are very active, I have grown to love and depend on all the experienced brewers that use it. There have been several times where I was already brewing and got immediate...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Took a hydrometer reading, got 1.07 and added a tsp of yeast nutrient, its a nice deep reddish pink color. Couldn't resist adding a few spoonfulls of brown sugar also. Looking forward to trying it! (As well as my other apfelweins, none are done yet).

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Just got two half gallons of 100% apple cider for 1.50 each (managers special!) and a can of frozen cranberry juice cocktail. Will this be sufficient for a gallon of apfelwein with my champagne yeast? Any estimates on the final abv?

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

What would using a champagne yeast do to this recipe? I have the red star yeast in the blue packet.

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Just drank one, brewed it early august bottled a week ago. Its my first batch and one week in bottles made it soooomuch better than when I bottled it. I hope at least one of these fewbottles makes it to next august! Edit: I made it in early september, which is why I was so surprised.

I've got brown sugar, honey, and 7 frozen applejuice concentrate cans.

I just made two 2-liters more of it with 2 cans of applejuice concentrate, a quarter cup of brown sugar, and a pinch of yeast energizer in each one. I used a half teaspoon of the blue packet of red star champagne yeast in each also, gave one to a friend for his birthday so I really hope they...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Does that mean I could make a half batch with 8 or 9 of the concentrates instead of 6 and honey n sugar?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I used only concentrate to save some dough, all the juice @ my store is from concentrate anyways so no reason to pay more than twice as much for them to add water for me. I used 6 cans in a 2.4 gal batch with 2/3 cups brown sugar n 12 oz honey. Gravity might b a bit low but I'm not sure its my...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Just made my first batch of apfelwein! 6 cans of frozen applejuice concentrate, 2/3 cups of brown sugar, and 12 oz honey. Made about 2.5 gallons, hopefully I didn't water it down too much I think the recipe was for 2gallons. I'm planning on carbonating it all, do I use the same amount of sugar...

I've got brown sugar, honey, and 7 frozen applejuice concentrate cans.

I will be using red star yeast, the blue packet and will be fermenting in a mr beer container (about 2.25 gal). I like dry ciders and I want something to put my friends and I on our asses while still tasting decent. Looking at some other recipes I'm thinking I will use 5 or 6 cans of the...

    The right color

A little haze never hurt anything! I've never been worried about clarity, I use a tsp of irish moss since some recipies call for it but I don't think clarity means anything besides that its clear.

Racked on Top of Priming, Still Flat Beers

I just bottle prime, despite what some people believe it has provided consistent results. I add sugar to all the bottles before I start filling any with beer. Also I have had the problem that Ravvy describes, with my most recent beer. I was freaking out because the first two times I opened one...

    Decompression Ale clone?

Thank you for your response! I will give this a shot, I will probably scale it down to 2.5 gallons because of my setup or lack of one and the amount of grains it takes. I will look around about the hops and order the supplies in the next couple weeks. Ill update this when I get brewing!
