    So who's brewing this weekend?

Today I've got 2 grainfathers going at capacity (8.8kg grainbill). 45L of imperial stout to fill the bourbon barrel I picked up from @smcinco. The hot break is always so pretty on dark beers.

    What are you drinking now?

HB Hazy. More carbed now, still a bit of hop bite but it’s only been 2 days.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Oops, I wrote aroma while thinking flavor. Some literature (which you have probably already seen) https://scottjanish.com/a-look-at-ph-in-hoppy-beers/ You'll see the discussion about fruity vs polyphenol/herbal flavors.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Do you measure post boil and post fermentation PH? That can have a big effect on hop aroma flavor in particular. I like to adjust to 5.0 post boil. I don't think you've mentioned anything about your water, which is another potential culprit. What do you start with and what adjustments do you...

    What are you drinking now?

Not bad for an NA. I think the Athletic golden ale is a bit better, though.

    What are you drinking now?

And the cheater pour of the hazy I Kegged today.

    What are you drinking now?

Half pour of bitter after I pitched the yeast in the next one.

    Into the fermentor!

What I did for beer today

Packaged my Citra Mosaic Eclipse hazy. I will mash a bit higher next time - it finished at 1.01. Tastes great though. Melon, citrus, and some great dank aroma. In the background you can see the mash going for a 1.035 bitter.

    where you get those hops?

You can probably order 4lbs and pay the same amount in shipping, too.

    where you get those hops?

There's a great sale at YVH now on previous year hops. The 2023 Citra a deal and, in my experience, much better than the 2024 crop.

Finally trying my hand at a Helles Lager

WLP860 is a great yeast. It comes from the Augustiner brewery, I believe. It’s a little fruitier than 34/70 in my experience but perfect for a Helles. I’ve only ever used the liquid version, but with that I make a big starter and ferment at 10c/50f with a slow ramp to 15c/60f. Fermentation is...

Sold SoCal 10 Gallon Fresh Dumped Bourbon Barrels

I’ll take 2 of them - pm sent for more info.
  14. tdf

    where you get those hops?

YVH for me mostly, too. It’s worth checking the difference in price for the 2oz vs 16oz bags. Sometimes the difference is < $2.00 and then you don’t have to repackage the larger bag.

What I did for beer today

Dry hop #2 for my hazy pale ale. This Citra hop hash was the hardest I’ve gotten. Nothing the food processor couldn’t handle

    What are you drinking now?

STS vs me following the homebrew recipe. I didn’t use the dingemans Pilsner malt that Russian River has, and mine is not quite clear yet, so there’s a clear color difference. Clear flavor difference too, but you might think they are different batches of the same beer. STS is a little more hop...

    Wanted Plaato Keg Scales

    I have 3. 2 are still sealed and the 3rd I used to monitor a co2 tank for a while. $100 + shipping?

What I did for beer today

I, too, just put together a starter with some old yeast (WLP002 I had overbuilt in May of last year). It looks like I have some activity a few hours in. You have inspired me to check the SG before I use it, though. Not something I usually do with starters.

    Cylinder exchange prices?

    Yeah it's $40 for a 5lb, $50 for a 20lb around here.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Agreed, this is pretty much where my 5.5% hazy I brewed a couple days ago is:
