Don't believe the stories about JWs not dancing. This pair of old biddies danced down the block and clean out of sight.

My wife told a pair of Jehovah's Witnesses that we were Pythonists. That is, that we worshipped Monty Python's Flying Circus. They kneeled down in our front yard to pray for our heathen souls. Of course, since we were in Deep East Texas, they should have remembered the possibility of fire...

Possibly. The honk, maybe. The shouting? Just bad manners, likely. I shouldn't even comment, I wasn't there.

That's a Cadillac, isnt it? Rude behaviour is pretty much the norm, in my experience. Probably thought you were taking HER picture. Apologies to any Caddie owners here.

    Post your infection

Welcome to the hobby / obsession / madness! That looks like normal yeast, probably stranded up there after a more active phase of fermentation. If it doesn't grow, and doesn't smell bad, you are probably fine. At this stage, patience is the hardest thing. Good luck to you!

If I ever get the chance to build my own planet, the continents are going to be on rails, running north and south. Pick your climate and move with it. This place was badly designed.

Has anyone used multiple bags, in order to reduce the weight of each lift? Would this even work?

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

That visible mist may or may not be accompanied by a lot of very hot, dangerous steam. Heat energy is what makes the difference. I've hunted down 600 psi superheated steam leaks with a broom handle. The actual leak will be several feet away from where the mist cloud forms. Thank goodness...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Best explanation yet. We called it PFM in the engine room. Pure somethingorother Magic. I don't remember what the F was for.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I think the confusion might lie in the distinction between heat and temperature. Temp is a good measure of heat content right up to the boiling point. Then you have to pump in more and more heat energy to start the boiling, but the temperature doesn't change. How is that possible? Durned if...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

That's absolutely true. I didn't want to go deeper down the rabbit hole than neccesary. Since putting a lid on doesn't have much effect on conduction or radiation, I didn't mention them. Convection is the only heat transfer mechanism that requires a working fluid such as steam. Steam without...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I think this is substantially correct, except that you really can't consider steam and heat as seperate substances. The heat is contained in the steam. When you put the lid on, less heat/steam is allowed to leave the system, and you will have a boil-over unless you reduce the firing rate, that...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

If you start with BrunDog's post #1 I think you'll find what you need. Maybe not the actual components that would be available in UK, but certainly enough info to design your own system. Good luck!

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I've bern wondering the same thing. Also, does it vary with type of malt, hops, etc? I'm not suggesting changing recipes to control odor, I'm just curious about the variables involved.

Bread and circuses, isn't that the phrase? We will always get the worst government we are collectively able to tolerate. Oops, that's political, isn't it? Sorry, won't happen again.

I suggest you hang on to it, at least for a while. The combined brain power of this bunch will likely find three or four viable solutions very soon.
