    Wasp wort chiller

Copper isn't the cheapest material these days but if you can swing it it might be worth while to make a counter flow chiller which wouldn't be too much more and is twice as affective. I jut built one with instructions found in this forum and it worked great. Just a thought.

    Wasp wort chiller

For the price it might be worth a try. With a circular chiller stirring the wort is just as affective in distributing the colder wort around. I doubt that it is that much more affective than a circular one though.

    Yeast harvest gone wring?

So I brewed a popular pale ale citrus beer found on this forum. After Using a vial of California ale yeast I thought I would harvest some and wash it. Question is, is it worth keeping when it looks like barf. It really does but is just a mixture of cascade hops. Will the hops make it unusable...

Anyone willing to share some Rhizomes?

I live in riverside and have bought some ryzomes from Morebeer. They were alive and healthy. Your best bet might be to call and see when they should arrive. This would garuntee the healthiest stick and they should be pest free which might be a problem if bought from some random person

    Liquid starter questions

I would just pitch the whole starter in the container as there is yeast in suspension in the liquid, not just the layer on the bottom. I've used a plastic mason jar so I don't see a problem with it.

Pale Ale Fermentation question (be warned, I'm a noob)

I left a Hef in the primary bucket for about 30 days due to similar circumstances and its been one if my best brews. Much longer can create off flavours.

    Where's the yeast?

I'm new to yeast washing and starters, I have my first sitting in a mason jar in the fridge as well. From what I know and have done, after multiple times decanting and washing, there would be three layers in your jar. The middle layer is the yeast you want. The top clear layer is basically wort...

    Pitching yeast question

Although not an expert, I will try my best to help. First I would make sure the water you are using to top off has been boiled and cooled to sanitize it or there might be an increased risk of contamination. When pitching the yeast, I always add a little wort to the fermenter then pitch the yeast...

Oak glen, which is just east of Redlands, has apple orchards and fresh apple juice. Might be worth checking out, or goggleing at least.

    Dry Hopping Hops Won't Sink

Imnot the expert here but I dry hopped my ipa that is now in the keg with some cascade pellets and the hops were absorbed and the aroma that it gave the beer was great. Weather correct or not I wouldn't worry about it, it should work fine.

    i'm ready!.....i think

I did my first all grain last weekend. It was a blast! I feel like I got a better product already from the sample I took after I was finished. While I won't claim to have the knowledge that those above me do, I have one piece of advice as this is where I screwed up. About 15 minutes before your...

    Note taking question

Man, all this new stuff to contimate as I continue my all grain experience. I'm horrible with computers but someone with some skills should compile this info and make a program or template, shouldn't be to hard. There is one available from a LHBS online but I can't remember the link, it's on my...

    Note taking question

I being a newer brewer I often read on this forum that people will refer to their notes on a particular recipe or brew day. Is there a common template or standardized way of taking notes when brewing, maybe a link or www site that has some good pointers. Now that I'm doing all grain and getting...
