    DIY stir plate question

Today is the day for stirplate questions. I tried a variable speed fan adjuster on my stirplate and it just turned the fan off and on. Your better off with a potentiometer from RadioShack ( yes they are basically the same) but you can find the exact voltage reduction you want to use.

    Slowing down a stir plate

I had the same problem that you did. I have a potentiometer inline and raised my flask above the stirplate to increase the distance and get a power reduction to no avail. Last week I added a 47 ohm resistor after the potentiometer and it now works perfect. I tried to other resistors with the 47...

    Cold crashing, bottling and priming

Ok so my last post was a bunch of scrambled words. My apologies. Basically I have good success after 2-3 days of cold crashing and not letting the beer warm up before bottling. Just try not to disturb the trub or it will float up. As far as the sugar I don't know off the top of my head but I bet...

    Cold crashing, bottling and priming

That time frame would be fine. I usually do 2-3 days and then go straight to bottling without any problems. I usually have food success this way. just be carefull not tobdisturb rhe trun when you mive the bucket. A far as the corn sugar I don't know off the top of my head. 🍺

    At the hospital

So I'm at the hospital with my wife who's has just begun to go into labour. As she drifts off to sleep my mind starts to wonder and drift. How will this little man affect my brewing, will I still be able to brew, when will I brew again. Any new dads or moms out there with some good advice and tips.

5 gallon mash tun for 10g brew?

So I recently aquired a keggle and want to start brewing 10g batches. My set up is currently designed for 5g batches using a 5 gallon igaloo cooler I converted. My question is can I mash a recipe for a 10g brew with a standard grain bill in it. Or should I try to get a bigger igaloo. Ideas...
