    Quick question about ..

go ahead and keg it. It should be done but check the gravity first just to make sure.

    My very first milling!

I've heard you can use a rolling pin to crush grains but I have never tried it. It probably wouldn't be too bad with only a pound of grain.

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Great thread! I had given up on the idea of grinding my own grain due to the cost of a barley crusher but you guys have given me new hope. I just ordered my corona mill and I should be grinding my own next week. Thanks!

Is this a good starter kit???

As for the glass or plastic carboy that is more personal preference than anything. You have to be more careful cleaning the plastic ones but they are much lighter.

Why a bucket? Can you ferment in a carboy?

I made the mistake of putting my brewpot over all 4 burners on my stove and burned the enamel on the middle of the stove top. I now do all of my brewing outside no matter what the weather is like.

After a few weeks in primary .....

If you are worried about it being done just check the gravity then wait a day or two and check again. If it hasn't changed then its ready to bottle.

    "Old" Grains?

Give them a try, what do you have to loose. If its bad you can just dump the beer.

waste of potentially good beer or good idea?

Drink your beer as soon as you want or as late as you want. If you want to make it an experiment take notes so you can compare the tastes as it ages. The bottom line is its your beer and you can drink it when you want.

    Stuck Fermentation on Root Beer

I don't have any experience with making soda but it would seem to me that they wouldn't firm up much if they were squishy to begin with. Maybe try opening one and see if it is carbed up.

Back to homebrewing after 7 years

To be honest I was new to beer back then and I really didn't like my first batch. But seven years and plenty of beer drinking have done alot for my tastes and I like it now.

Back to homebrewing after 7 years

Hello everyone. I will be brewing my first batch of beer on sunday after a 7 year break. I was just draging out all of my old equipment and found about 26 - 16oz bottles from my first batch of beer ever (honey wheat). Just cracked one open (after chilling in the fridge) and it is suprisingly...
