    Average age of home brewers......

34 I'm currently brewing about 10 gallons a month. Very new as in 3 months. Making the switch to extract this weekend and next weekend starting all grain BIAB. My daughter that is 2 and my son on the way might put a kink into this. Add that golf season starts in a couple months and we shall...

    Dryhopping in bag

I'm not a pro by any means but I have found dry hopping with a bag is the easiest way. Add a weight to the bag and (sanitized of course) and it will be fully submerged for better results.

    Fermentation

only one way to find out... might as well follow through and not worry about the "could haves" until they become reality. Make sure to document your "mistakes" in case you like it.

Home brew shop prepared wort opinions & tips

I started with a similar kit from Brew House. Avoid using softened water for these. If you can add 5L of bottled water to keep the flavour profile that was intended. from there... all you have to do is pitch the yeast and watch it go. Take gravity readings before you pitch the yeast. Dont...

A photo story - Colorado Basement Brewery

wow... amazing build. I see so many of these expensive and semi expensive builds yet my wife (who doesnt drink) is busting my balls about buying a brew kettle and a burner. Where the hell did I go wrong?

    First Keezer Build!

I did my oak staircase and everyone says it looks very good. The best part about rags is no sanding required after. I bought commercial stain to match https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.espresso-maple-34-inch-thick-x-5-inch-w-engineered-hardwood-flooring-1296-sq-ft--case.1000744756.html and it...

    First Keezer Build!

awesome work. That full carboy on the keg scares the crap out of me. for a much cleaner staining process... use rags. Much easier to control the consistency/color and way less mess.

    Saving Water

Being close to a lake and getting my water from a 80ft drilled well thats into the aquifer, my set up this summer is going to be an immersion chiller with the sprinkler attached to the end on my front lawn where my well is. Green lawn and putting the water back where it came from.

    Blow off tube water...

I highly doubt it infected our beer. The krausen might not have made its way to the water at the end of the blowoff but the gases did and thats probably enough to effect the water.

    burner advice

    Bottling procedure after long primary?

IMO you dont need to let the priming sugar cool. I pour the sugar water into the bottle bucket first then rack my beer on it but point the hose so it produces a natural gentile whirlpool. I boil my water in the kettle then pour on my dextrose in a sterile measuring cup and once my dextrose...

BIAB - too small of a pot

this is brilliant. I am about to start BIAB and I am probably going to use this method with a slight modification. instead of spoons... use an old clean stainless steel oven rack.

    Priming/carb question

I assume those are 500ml bottles? so you have 20.5 liters instead of 24L. If you carbed based on 24L at 2.2co2 its 141g of dextrose. if you fool around with the numbers on the calculater at brewers friend 20.5L you'd end up with 2.43co2. not a big difference (.023). I personally wouldn't...

    IBT-4XS BBQ Thermometer review(Inkbird)

Thanks to Inkbird and Lea, I won the IBT-4XS BBQ thermometer and received it just before Christmas. I've only used it a couple times so far but I thought I'd post a review. This thing is beyond easy to set up and use. Its literally a download of the app and a push of a button and its ready...

Equally Obnoxious Hockey Trash Talk Thread, eh?

As much as I do wish he'd be a quiet owner, I do believe him a bit. I do believe he has financial issues and is using the time as a profit generator unfortunately as most owners know, the ones that are profitable are either legacy teams (leafs, yankees cowboys etc) or their has been significant...
