I think my beer is infected, please help!

This is the first time ive added more than 1kg of sugar so maybe thats got a part to play. Just out of curiosity though, if i take a hydrometer reading after say 7 days and nothing at all has happened, what then?

I think my beer is infected, please help!

Suppose i am a little impatient, just the other brews ive made have started fermenting after 12hrs, with large bubbles and airlock noises

I think my beer is infected, please help!

Im not sure it is a true lager strain because it says to ferment quite warm? The packet just says coopers brewing yeast 7grams. Doesnt actually have anything else written on it. This may sound stupid but does it make a difference whether the fermenter is in darkness?

I think my beer is infected, please help!

Hi, I made up a batch of canadian blonde lager last night and followed all the instructions word for word (it was a kit) except for the amount of sugar, i put 500grams of normal granulated in more than the kit said cos i wanted it to be a little stronger. I cleaned everything with a small...

    Waiting patiently?

Has anyone experienced a mild headache within ten minutes of drinking homebrew? Once ive had a few pints it goes but the initial pint gives me a headache? Just wondering if it may have been something i did in the brewing process?

Has leftover sediment after primary fermentation got yeast?

so the yeast I used recently I could actually store it and use it for everything I make in the future? Is it better just to stick to buying the packets?

Has leftover sediment after primary fermentation got yeast?

I was just wondering if after primary fermentation if the sediment at the bottom contained usable yeast for another batch? Ive read on jere about people using the same yeast but im curious as to how you would do it? Also would it still work if you used a kit?

    Need a Cider recipe

I have a keg and also have the option to bottle, i think im just worried that if i do try a new type beer and i dont like it then ill have 40 pints of stuff i dont like but that said the same thing could happen with cider :/ Argh theres so many choices im like a kid in a sweet shop haha!

    Waiting patiently?

Im new to brewing and am on my 3rd brew and havent really understood carbonation but this is a really simple way of understanding it. So if you keg and put a CO2 bulb on is that just forcing CO2 into the brew rather than the brew producing it? And why do pubs use CO2?

    Need a Cider recipe

I may be setting myself up to look a fool but here goes, i like stella, carslberg, carslberg export, those kinds, (this is the part where you tell me they arent lagers lol) I have tried some ales such as Bishops Finger, Spitfire, Bombardier and they are ok, I just prefer that lager kinda taste...

    Absolute beginner!

I used 1kg of sugar in primary and ive used 2L PET bottles with only a tablespoon so they should be fine cos i think those type bottles withhold stupid amounts of pressure before bursting, but I did place them all inside a black bin liner just incase! Thanks for the heads up tho :)

    Need a Cider recipe

I have just started brewing and started a kit that i thought was lager, turns out its not a lager kit, i have since learned that lager needs a completely different environment, one which i cannot accomodate yet, so i want to make something i can manage at warmer temps but im not keen on ale and...
