Brutus Brewer - I don't think that braided hose you are using is rated for those temps. You should use silicone hose for temps that high.

I haven't used dry yeast since I went to all grain a couple of years back so I can't really comment on that. I went to the liquid yeasts to use with starters. You can do that with dry yeasts also it's just that a lot of the recipes I use reference the liquid types. I would give it a try...

I use California lager yeast for my Octoberfest ale. I don't have a fermentation chamber yet either. It works pretty well but it's still not a true lager.

You'll be much safer going through the lid or a collar if you're going to put one on it. There will definitely be coolant lines in the sides.

Mix up some PBW and let it soak overnight in your keggle. You will be amazed in the morning.

JB Water Weld will probably do what you need and I believe it's NSF approved too. I found it at Home Depot by the paint.

Sorry mine indeed is cpvc. Not PVC.

I use a PVC manifold in my 60qt Igloo cube mash tun. Works great. Only drawback is the fuzz left in the tube after sawing the slits. I use easyclean and Starsan to clean it up.
