    Ruined by Kviek and technology

wow I don't have enough friends to brew that much. If only the old neighbors hadn't moved away. Imagine how much more I could have brewed/learned by now.

    Ruined by Kviek and technology

Long long ago in a land far away I used to let my ales sit in the primary for 3 weeks in the basement to finish and clarify with only a final gravity measurement. Then bottle and wait 1-2weeks for carbonation. Then I added the spigot to the fermenter and started taking multiple readings...

What came in the mail for you today?

Delivery Yesterday from Bobby. Time to replace the QD's that leak when I touch the hose. also a bypass return to keep my pump flow up during mash for best temp control. Brewed on today.

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Logging data to Brewfather? Can you send fermentation data from BruControl to Brewfather? A quick search of google and this thread I only find people trying to get their recipes into BruControl and no one trying to go the other way. I know that is clue but I'm asking anyway. I have a EBIAB...

@shoengine I need to know what is the big grey hose for?

    Brew Room Organization

@micraftbeer love the decant note on the stirrer. Above my kettle on the peg wall is written in red and circled Campden. My plate chiller says flush on it now. I'm only half way there. My fermenter fridge is right across the isle from the brew bench and the keezer is right next to that. so I...

Fermentation Temperature Control vs Fermenting Under Pressure

I think you still want temperature control. I noticed a definite difference between Voss at 80 and 95. The big difference for me fermenting under pressure has been no noticeable fusil alcohols. My last hazy at 7.5% drank like juice. I’m brewing lager, ipa, and hazies with temps between 60 and 95...

    Scorching taste

I run my post mash with a 4200w limit on a 5500w ulwd element never had any scorching. Unfortunately I think your only choice is to change your element from hwd to ulwd or at least LWD with the pump. Basically the element doesn't have enough surface area so it gets way to hot to dissipate the...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I had a 5v 100psi stainless sensor from an engine project I never did uhm 20 years ago. The range is not ideal but with the proper RC filter I get a decent reading from the brewpiless. It is just teed into the spunding valve connection. Took a while to find the fittings to go from 8mm tube to...

What happened here? Blown SSR/ Camco 02965 Element/ Wiring?

Maybe one of the Electrical engineers will see and comment but the speed at which a solid state device can be blown by a dead short should be much faster than a mechanical breaker. There should be a test button on the breaker to test for piece of mind.

What happened here? Blown SSR/ Camco 02965 Element/ Wiring?

I use stainless split lock washers on the screw head side. It is impossible to get the torque necessary to stretch the screw enough to deal with the thermal cycles. The spring action of the split washer helps maintain good contact. Also a small amount of grease(vasaline) any corrosion or wort...

    Dry Yeast for NEIPA

I used Lellemond Voss in my last 2 NEIPAS. I fermented under pressure starting at 0 and free rising to 20psi at 85f where I was going for grapefruit juice and a second at 95f where I was going for orange grapefruit juice. Even under pressure I would say I got some orange at the higher temp. I...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

yeah that is what it looks like in brewfather plotting both the Ispindel and brewpiless. 2 beer temps(light blue/purple), the fridge temp(light green), pressure in orange, ispindel voltage in dark green. I probably need to calibrate temps as the Ispindel and thermal well shouldn't be 2 degrees...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

maybe I have been lucky I use mine under pressure and no issues so far. The brepiless stopped logging but the ispindel kept going at 25psi. no water ingress. Though the mating point between the tube and cap might be just above the water line.

Tired of Citra, Mosiac, and Galaxy NE IPAS

I'm not a fan of too much tropical but my favorite so far that still tastes like a NEIPA: 5gallon batch yes there is some citra whirlpool Ekuanot 2oz, azacca 2oz, cascade, 2oz, citra 1oz dry hop ekuanot 2oz, azzaca 2oz, cascade 1oz, citra 1oz and a nice grapefruit juice; wp: 2oz each cascade...

    Cleaning the heating element

I've used oxiclean it gets the residue softened well enough but always leaves residue with my hard water. Then I would clean the residue off with citric acid which is around $15 for 5lbs. Now I just use citric acid and heat it up with enough water to cover the element. My shiny stainless...

What came in the mail for you today?

What came in the mail for you today?

It lets me know when it is time to change the filter. Suppose it is a little silly when it is new other than I know it is working. My water out of the fridge filter has a total dissolved solids of around 250ppm with a working ro system should be close to 0.
