    CO2 refill West Houston, TX?

I'm going to venture into the land of kegging tomorrow but I need some CO2! I've tried searching around but everything people suggested is either closed now or on the otherside of the city. There is a few welding supply shops around, but I've read some horror stories about getting bad gas...

    Sanitizing bottles

All I do is have some star san mixed up, all my bottles on the counter (clean but not sanitized). The bottles move from the counter, to the star san in batches of however many i can get to submerge sideways. I use my sink so usually 6-8. Then out of that I pick them up, dump the star san out...

beer in America vs. else where

Those whole thread makes no sense. "European beer"? That itself is so general a term you can't possibly attempt to compare. Hell different small towns in germany have different ways of making hefeweizen. Which one of those towns did your friend go to? Which breweries did he like? Me and two...

    Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale?

How did your batch turn out? Any updates?

5 gallon carboy, Coopers 3.75# can of Irish Stout Extract

This also sounds like you're not boiling or adding any hops at all. You aren't just dumping all of this into the carboy are you?

    Kegging this weekend?

I'm in the same boat as you. I get all excited about something and then figure in for a penny in for a pound and buy things up really fast. Honestly though if either of us reallllllly wanted to save money we could have stuck with the $75 brew kit, used a swam cooler for fermentation temps, and...

Kolsch feedback please (extract + specialty grain)

That's a great point. I don't know off the top of my head, but when I do go buy it I'll check and rebalance the hops based on what the package says. I'm just waiting for the fermentation chamber to become available before I start this one! Thanks again for the feedback everyone. I will aim...

Kolsch feedback please (extract + specialty grain)

Thanks guys, I'm not brewing this for another week and a half. I'll follow your suggestions. I take it by "late" hop additions you mean the 15m and 1m? Also the reason I added the crystal was because hopville said it was 'too light' before that at 3SRM where the style is 4-5. So a revised...

Kolsch feedback please (extract + specialty grain)

I am trying to make a Saint Arnold's Fancy Lawnmower clone. I am aware that Austin Home Brew has a kit but I'm trying to support my LHBS and the Austin Kit doesn't tell me exactly whats in it anyway (maybe it does if I buy it? Can anyone answer that?). This might not be an exact clone, but...

help! I screwed up IIPA and now I'm afraid it won't be bitter enough

Another reason you won't be able to add it glass by glass... I looked it up on morebeer's site and they have a calculation to figure out how much to add. Thats 1.38ml for 10 gallons. Your 2ml syringe isn't going to be accurate enough to measure out for one glass!

help! I screwed up IIPA and now I'm afraid it won't be bitter enough

Thanks guys I think I'm going to go with iso alpha hop extract. I kept searching and came across where someone said to boil more hops and add it in, but then someone else replied with: That scared me off from trying that so extract it is! thanks again.

help! I screwed up IIPA and now I'm afraid it won't be bitter enough

I was brewing an IIPA this last weekend with an OG of 1.083 which I hit on the nose (extract brew makes it easy). The hop schedule is below, but I made one big mistake. When I was calculating out IBU's I was going to do a 4.0 gallon boil. It just slipped my mind and I ended up doing a 2.0 gal...

how much priming sugar to use?

The amount you lose is really not that much, maybe 6oz. It's not enough to affect your measurements really.

AHS Saint Arnold Weedwacker Clone on deck

Just _slightly_ off topic but has anyone used this kit with a kolsch yeast for a successful Fancy Lawnmower? If not I might try it in a few weeks...

    Dogfish - Raison D'Etre

I believe you should be able to sub extra light DME inplace of the pale malt for an extract recipe. Just stick it into a calculator first to figure out exactly how much to reach that OG. I have a feeling 13lbs is about 4-5lbs too much for 1.079.

Saint Arnold's Endeavour (closish?) extract attempt

Tomorrow I'll be doing my second brew and attempting to make something as close to endeavour (previously divine reserve 11) without going AG (yet). I've been searching around but haven't quite come up with any results other than this, but there wasn't any followup (and its AG). They usually...
