Is this normal to see? (picture inside)

Ok that is good to know. I Chilled this batch for 4 days to try and get rid of most of the Sach before pitching the bugs, so hopefully this is from the Brett in the Sour mix and the supplication. I will find out next month when i try it and toss in my oak chips and Dried cherries :-)

Is this normal to see? (picture inside)

I have a supplication Clone that is at 5 Months young. I decided to take a look at it since it has been a while. I have not had the stopper off of it in a while so there has been no Oxygen presence for months and the little pellicle that did form is long gone. My question is about the thin...

    Attempting Supplication clone

Well My Clone hits 6 months young In November. I am thinking of trying it since I have not tasted it since it was infected. The only thing I have opened it for was to ass Supplication dregs. I do not have a pellicle anymore and have not for a few months. This Better Bottle seems to completely...

    Cork and Capping Questions

I have done some searching and have not cleared up all of my questions. Eventually I will be bottling my Supplication Clone and would like to cork and Cap the bottles for aging. 1- Can I cork my regular Homebrew store 12 oz beer bottles or are they too weak? 2- Which size cork works...

    Sour for dummies?

As a noob to sours as well, the above link helped me get a better understanding of things. Alot of people post threads regarding certain things that are happening to their beer as it ages etc and people help them to find out what is going on. This information is useful in helping you do...

    Pellicle Photo Collection

Here is the young pellicle on my 2 month old Supplication clone. Looking good, I just wish the better bottle didn't get so dirty so I can see into the bottle better. Oh well, enjoy the picture. For those that would like to know this was inffected using WLP655 Belgian Sour Mix 1 which contains...

    Attempting Supplication clone

Care to Share how many Lbs of cherries and how many Oz of oak you used? Seems to be a lot of mixed amounts in this thread. I have had mine infected for about 2 months and still figuring out when and how much cherries and oak to put in. Here is my pellicle That has finally started to grow.

    pLambic ?

Interesting you mention this, My Better bottle seems to barely make a pellicle as well. Just the described very thin film with a few bubbles. Recently i have started to see a few lines forming through it, but still very very thin.

Have you ever fermented on a dead yeast cake?

yeah i wouldn't pitch on the cake more than like 3 times without washing the yeast.
  18. B

    Ruined fermentation? Please help!

Did you take a Hydro reading as recommended? Where was it at and what was your original gravity. How did your reading hold up to the projected final gravity?
  19. B

Have you ever fermented on a dead yeast cake?

Yeah 1 day is not long enough to say the yeast was dead. Normally pitching onto a yeast cake, you get very fast and active fermentation.

Have you ever fermented on a dead yeast cake?

Any time I ever pour onto a yest cake, it is immediately after I rack off of the cake. Probably should have refrigerated the yeast for those 2-3 weeks or maybe left some food for them to eat. Had you refrigerated it, you may have just put them to sleep instead of killing them at room temp with...
