    NOOB question

Absolutely not!!!! That's perfectly fine!!! .....Return to DEFCON 1. Or National Security blue.....or whatever the low one (which we will never see) is. Perfectly normal!!!!

    Advice Quick!!

Are you doing a good job stirring the mash up? Big temp drops/changes like that make me think you've got hot/cold spots lurking in there. No prob with the time of mash, and there should be no bad effects from dipping a bit low to start. Jsut hit your 15? range and let 'er rip. Are you going to...

    Six strings, infinite possibilities

Yeaaaaa, I've always had my eye on the Jaguars. I've just never had the chance to really play one for an extended period of time to get a good feel for it. Interesting thought tho. the plot thickens.....

    Iditarod

Me. too. :D I played through high school, then never made the college squad as a walk-on. I was a lefty first baseman, decent average hitter with some power but I was slow as mollaaaassseeesss. I would routinely turn doubles into singles. The proudest moment of my high school career was scoring...

Seems like someone was boiled with too much bittering hops as a young lad. ;) ...And you are definitely not from baseball country. :D

    Newbie needs some advice

I agree with zoe....it is most likely fine. Keep an eye on it, taste it when you rack to clearing tank (if you plan to) and, if you want it to really calm down, read it a nice bedtime story. I suggest Scuppers The Sailor Dog. ;)

    Six strings, infinite possibilities

I've been slowly building up the guitar collection over the last 5-6 years and I'm in the position to make another 'investment', so I'm lookng for some input from fellow guitar players/collectors to decide which way to go next. I'm a Fender guy at heart, so I'd like to possibly branch out the...

    NCAA bracket pick-off

It looks like you have to fill out the bracket by Thursday, and the first games are on Friday (I think!). I, too, know dick about basketball. Though I always smoked people in HORSE with the one-footed big lefty sky hook......:rockin:

    Brewing in Central vermont

Welcome to the board, fellow NE'r. For a Boston guy, central Vermont is usually where I stop for gas on the way to Burlington for Magic Hat growler refills. ;) :D Seriously, though, welcome....you've stumbled upon one of the best homebrewing resources that exists....eva. Cheers! :mug:

    Benefits of Multi-Step Mashing

For the pils I did, the mash schedule was as such: Dough-in @ 104F Protien rest @ 127F (20-25 min.) Mash @ 151 (60 min.) Mashout @167 It's still lagering, though. Haven't tasted it yet. :(

How hard is it to mini-mash...possibly my third brew

treehouse, i tend to disagree with you across the board. first off, partial mashing and full boils are compatable (if you have a big enough kettle), but even partial boils are not an issue if you compensate for the different hop utilization levels. Most all PM kits take this into account, so...

    Benefits of Multi-Step Mashing

For the record, I've got a few spreadsheets that will calc out hot water infusions for step mashing on my home computer. I could email them along you you are interested. Multi-step, IMHO, is a must-do with wheats, pils.......efficiency with both and clarity with the pils. For lots of other...

Stupidest mistake of the year? Yah, I think so....

That SUCKS, dude. I recently found a little plactic elbow for my sparge arm on the kitchen floor.....I'm definitely on track to throw something important out. Regardless, I think you should just fess up to SWMBO. Make sure she know how important this is for you. Let her know that you need...
