Is anybody else still using the bucket-in-bucket system?

I had the standard two bucket starter kit that I converted by drilling 3/16 holes "uniformly" over the entire bottom of the bucket without the spigot. I would insert the false bottom bucket into the bucket with the spigot. With the mash in the bucket I would do a standard batch sparge and let...

Is anybody else still using the bucket-in-bucket system?

I am new to AG brewing, but I did my first 5 or so batches using this method. At best I could get 55% eff. I think the reason for this was all the heat I would lose in the transfer. The real kicker to make the switch to a cooler was when I added too much hot water to the LT and hot wort...

    Firearms

Nothing wrong with that. Both of mine are the 20". My old one is the light barrel which is a lot lighter than the standard heavy. As long as you have the complete rifle you can change it as your heart desires later. If you get the flat top with the detach handle you can do anything.

    Mash temp

I think it is a thermometer issue. Brewsmith results for that grain bill indicated I would have a temp of 155 deg using 170 deg strike water temp. That being said I can't calibrate that thermometer as I broke it on the false bottom a few weeks ago. My OG was 1.042 and the FG was 1.008 (I did...

    Mash temp

I have about 10 AG brew done and 9 polished off. I have been lurking here gaining tons of info. When I started I did not pay much attention to the mash temp and my procedure was to add 1.25 qt/lb water to grain. I would bring the water to 170 deg, mix, and let rest for 1 hour. The mash temp...

    Firearms

Which one? Are you going to get all the now legal goodies...you know for bayonet charges. AR15 are great fun. I have a slick side, sp-1, from the late 60's (as far as I can tell) - Colt with an olympic lower, and a new 2004 olymipic.

    harbor freight 'plastic welder'

I used to do a little plastic welding back in the day...about 12 years ago. I found that it worked good on thick plastic (1/4" - 1/2"). Also the cross section of the welding rod would be important depending on the type of joint. Could not say much about that as I have not done it in awhile...
