    Sanke coupler

Sankey kegs don't have a pressure release on the keg itself, it's usually incorporated in the coupler. I've used both. I don't have a keg cleaner or the desire to make one and found some cornies for cheap a few years back so I made the switch. The corny system is more flexible IMHO but to...

How do you pressure check a corny keg?

Doesn't need to be that complicated. You can usually hear or feel a leak. Use your set up as you would to serve and pressurize to 30 lbs. you can do an extra leak test by mixing equal parts of water and dish soap and brush or spray on the posts and lid. If you have a leak you will see bubbles.

Ohio Keggles no fittings, Chiller, Turkey Fryer, 15.5 & 7.5 keg

Making room anywhere I can, twins are arriving this summer  Before the keg police chime in I put in the time to get my deposit back and 3 kegs made their way back to smaller breweries, the rest the distributor told me they make nice planters for flowers and they don't want them...

    fermenting temp monitoring

Interesting read. I'm setting up my fermtroller controlled 2 zone chamber now. I'm not sure if the averaging works the same as the brewtroller code for the mash (I have 3 probes that get averaged to measure mash temp) but this has me thinking I need a probe for the thermowell and one for the...

I have 6 ball lock kegs for sale. All have been upgraded with silicone o-rings inside and out. Currently have about a quart of star san in each under 20lbs pressure. I am including replacement o-ring sets for each. The lid gasket is buna-n but the rest are silicone. All o-rings currently...

Fermentation Fridge deal too good to be true. Help!

Post the specs on your compressor if you can get them. Google model number etc. My guess is there is a leak in the system and the refrigerant has escaped. Depending on how handy you are you may be able to fix it yourself. The hardest part is getting the refrigerant given the mfg date though...

    Circuit breakers vs supplementary protectors

Thanks for all the responses! I should insert the obligatory "hold harmless declaration" here. I guess the good news is people that know more than me have done the same. I'm properly GFCI protected with a 50A GFCI fed from the abandoned 50A breaker in the house panel left from moving to a gas...

    Circuit breakers vs supplementary protectors

I'm wondering if I made a $100 mistake. My brewing panel has been done for some time so now I'm working on my panel for a fermtroller and noticed I have both kinds of "breakers" in my brew panel. Are the supplemental protectors OK to use in my brew panel? All my single pole breakers are the...

Electrical wiring questions for spa panel

May not be needed but may be required by the city where he's pulling the permit. I ran 100 amps in the detached garage from the alley and trenched 200 amp to the house to eliminate overhead lines because my neighbors both have huge trees that are always shedding branches. Anywho, the city...

    Fermenatation errors

Sounds normal to me. I wouldn't do anything for at least 2 weeks after pitching your yeast. Take a gravity reading at that point and use that measurement to determine if you're done. If you're at final gravity for a couple days straight move on to the next step.

    Beer Table Mill Station

Got my Cereal Killer Mill mounted to a table I will use as a staging/work area while brewing. I used an old Makita variable speed high torque drill I had laying around. That thing is a beast, I've almost broken my wrist more than once using it with hole saws. I mounted the drill directly...

    Grain Mill Build

I have the Cereal Killer and they recommend 200 RPM. Check the specs for yours or compare the diameter of your rollers if you're making it to a similar commercial mill and use that recommendation.

    Smell after primary fermentation???

Bubbles are normal, just CO2 coming out of solution as you racked the beer. As for if it's infected, hard to tell without pictures or a taste test. Did you taste the sample you pulled for your gravity reading? 8 days is pretty quick to transfer the beer off the yeast. It may have hit final...

Electrical wiring questions for spa panel

The short answer to do you have enough juice to run everything you have going on in the shed is no. A rule of thumb for amp rating is 80% of the breaker. In other words your 50A breaker should only be feeding 40A at any given time. The allowance is there for short term start up. When the...
