I initially had around 9' of eva tubing in my kegerator, I am probably closer to 4.5' or 5' now. Sure I did not pour too much foam with the longer line, but it also took way longer to pour a glass too! I am happy with the speed of the pour now, and the foam level is good once the tap is cooled...

I have been using mine for over 2 years now, and lately all 10 gallon batches. I recirculate my mash for 60 minutes, and whirlpool during cooling, then finally empty the boil kettle.

No comment in regards to the herms coil, however I do have a comment on the cam lock fittings. All of my cam lock fittings are from either brewhardware or bargainfittings, and I have had 0 issues from either of those companies. The fittings I have are most likely mating up against the other...

I know you are looking for open source, but you might want to check out Brucontrol. It is not as expensive as commercial software as it started out for the homebrew community. EDIT: Lots of posts in this forum for the software as well, Brundog started it and is a member here.

You leave it on and it will automatically stop providing CO2 once that pressure has been stabilized, which means it is now carbed at the level you want it at. Then as you serve it will add more CO2 to reach stabailzation again. It will not continue to just dump CO2 in, only until stabalized...
