    kegconnection.com ??

Has anyone ever ordered a 5 gal keg from kegconnection.com?? They seem to have the best prices around and the flat rate shipping of $7.95 can't be beat. Just wondering if there is a catch or fine print. Also if this is not the best deal does anyone know where I can get really cheap or even free...

    Growler question

I'm looking to start using a few growlers when I bottle my next batch (along with regular 12 oz bottles). My question is this, is it ok to bottle condition in a growler ? Also is one type of top better than another ie screw cap metal vs nylon or a plug or what ?? Thanks for any info.

    Kegging question

So do you suggest ball lock ? Is one better or less expensive than the other ? I don't really have a LHBS near my house so I get most of my supplies online.

    Kegging question

I have always bottled my brew but as we all know that can be a whole lot of work. I would like to start kegging (sometimes at least). My question is this. I have a kegerator and the whole setup needed for it such as co2 tank and all the hookups. If I buy a 5 gallon pin lock keg what else will I...

    Time in primary fermenter

I brewed a batch of beer 30 days ago. It's been in the carboy since and seems to have reached its FG reading. My question is this, I had unexpected surgery last week and will not be able to bottle today. Will an extra week or so in the primary be a problem ??

    Question about bottle conditioning

So I just bottled my first batch and I have a question. I put the bottles in a storage cubby area in my daughters room. It's very dark in there but also a bit chilly, is this a problem ? Is there a certain temperature they should be stored at in this stage, and if it turns out its too cold is it...

    Expert needed !!!!

So I just finished bottling my first extract brew it's an Irish red I've decided to call "Hurricane Red" ( I live just north of NYC ) Anyway brewed and bottled the batch exactly by the recipe. Upon bottling I couldn't help but take a small taste, I assumed it would taste like warm flat beer...

    Life of sanitizer

Does anyone know A- how long sanitizer lasts and B- what's the best way to store it ? Also how do I know if its too old and won't do the job ? I don't want to have to mix up a new batch every time I want to brew or test or bottle.

    Sanitising bottles

Seeing as I don't have a bottle drying rack how can I make sure that the bottles are completely dry (if they need to be) ?

    Is this a problem ??

This is my second batch and first in a glass carboy. I went to check on the progress this morning and found this curious mold looking stuff on the inside of the neck of the carboy. It does not look to be in or on the beer yet ? Is this mold and is that a problem ?

    Secondary fermenting

I know that doing a secondary ferment is not usually necessary. However are there certain types of beer (not talking about adding fruit etc) that should be moved to a secondary fermenter ? I just brewed an extract kit from northern called moose slobber. It seems to be a heavier beer, do I need...

    Air bubbles in my fermenter

First for the simple question. I have had an Irish red in my fermenter for approximately 2 weeks. I opened it to check the gravity the other day and noticed small patches of air bubbles floating on top of the beer. Is this ok ?

    Fermenter question

I brewed my first batch on Sept 29th. It seems as though the fermenting stopped a while ago. Now as I have no intention of doing a secondary fermentation how long ideally should I keep the batch in the fermenter before I bottle. This was an Irish red extract kit by the way.

    Gravity reading concern

I think closer to 1.050. Like I said in my op I may have been off due to the foam. I'm hopeful that's it anyway.

    Gravity reading concern

I brewed my first batch ( an Irish Red from extract ) on September 29th. The original gravity after I added water to get the batch to 5 gallons in the fermenter but before I pitched the yeast was 1.040, I think. I took the reading after I aerated so it was tuff to get a true number with all the...

    " Hydrometer test jar"

Any ideas on something to use as a hydrometer test vessel until I can get one. My LHBS is out and I don't want to wait and pay to have one shipped. There has got to be an everyday home item that I can get at a retail store to hold me over......right ??

    Bubbles in my fermenter

I know that visible signs of fermentation are not reliable but I was just wondering, is it ok if my airlock only bubbled for 24 hrs ? I have a bucket fermenter so I can't see what's going on in there. It's only been fermenting for less than a week so I'm hesitant to open the top just yet to take...

    Screens

Does anyone recomend using screens when pouring the wort into a fermenter ? Also do they make a screen to use with a plastic fementing bucket ? My curiosity lies in if the "sludge" from the boil adds flavor or makes for a better finished product if left in the fermenter.
