    BIAB Centennial Blonde

Would you separate the hops by weight according to how much wort in each pot or is that not so important?

    BIAB Centennial Blonde

It seems to be clearing out a little. How is the wort supposed to taste? I hear a lot of people saying it taste great when its still green but didn't see anything on how the wort itself would taste? I didn't get to sample to wort until about 5 minutes after the yeast was pitched would this give...

    BIAB Centennial Blonde

The grains looked and smelled fine I didn't taste them so I cant say on that. It wasn't a fine crush it seem pretty coarse the LBS crushed them for me and didn't make it any finer because I was doing a BIAB he just did the normal crush. I also used whirlflock at 15 minutes in the boil a lot of...

    BIAB Centennial Blonde

I just did a BIAB of BM's Centennial Blonde Ale I followed the recipe for 5 gals and the only change I made was add a .5lbs of the 2-row to make up for my inefficiency. I tasted the wort and it was very astringent tasting. It may have something to do with my method which is as followed. I dont...

    Strong Alcohol Taste.

Im thinking I am going to bottle this weekend and let it sit 6+ months. Would aging in the secondary longer help it at all or would that just create more off flavors as it is sitting on yeast? Will dry hopping with some more hops help balance it out or not? Thanks for all your advice guys.

    Strong Alcohol Taste.

68 was the wort temp. I was aiming for a 1% increase in ABV and didnt realize it would affect it this much. It tasted awesome at 1.030 in the primary and that was at 7.2% ABV it had no alcohol taste then would it have been wise of me to just bottle it then I didnt because I was worried about...

    Strong Alcohol Taste.

I pretty much followed the left hand milk stout recipe I took the 5 gallon recipe divided it by five then multiplied it by 3 to get a three gallon recipe but I also added .5 lbs of corn sugar and .5 of DME to try to boost the ABV a little and also added Cocoa power about 12 oz of that. The...

    Strong Alcohol Taste.

It sat in the primary for 21 days and been in the secondary for about a week. Is 68 too high to ferment at? I tasted awesome before racked to secondary so I dont think it was the temperature that caused the bad taste.

    Strong Alcohol Taste.

I just made a milk stout with chocolate the OG was 1.090 I know that is really high I got it down to 1.030 in the primary using wyeast london ale with no starter I tasted it and it tasted great but I was still worried that it didn't ferment out completely so I moved it to the secondary and...

    Kidproof keezer??

If I were you I would find a valve that is turned by a key(or make one) that would disconnect the line inside the keezer and you could just turn it on and off from the outside. This would be very cheap to construct.

    Final Gravity High? (Milk Stout)

I have read many time that squeezing the bag will not release tannins only high temps. i squeezed it to get better efficiency. I basically took the left hand milk stout clone and modified it into a chocolate stout. I don't think that I used too much cocoa powder I cant really taste it at all...

    Final Gravity High? (Milk Stout)

Do any of you think that I could get the FG a little lower by repitching? or would that just be a wasted of my time and yeast. I was considering repitching in a secondary with us 05 that has been rehydrated and possibly a little starter so I could aerate the starter a bit since it is lacking...

    Final Gravity High? (Milk Stout)

I was also surprised when the OG was that high I did squeeze the grain bag to try to get higher efficiency and I added .5 lbs of DME and .5 lbs of corn sugar to boost the ABV slightly. There is also about 9.6 oz of lactose and 9.6 oz of cocoa powder which was added at 15 mins these also...

    Final Gravity High? (Milk Stout)

I forgot to mention that I did add a little DME and corn sugar to the boil about a half pound of each in attempt to boost the ABV a little bit. Do you suggest that I rack to a secondary and pitch some more yeast? Ive read around about that it seem people dont have very good luck with repitching...
