    Making the switch, equipment question!

My brother is very handy and could easily help me make all this stuff. With that said, what exactly what I need to piece together in order to make a rig that is fully functional? Are there tutorials available too? Thanks!

    Making the switch, equipment question!

Hey everyone, I apologize ahead of time for the abundance of these posts I'm sure you all get. I did use the search function, but there were SO many things to sift through that it all gets a little overwhelming :drunk: I'm taking the plunge, and I'm moving to AG from extract brewing...

    Belgian Tripel WLP550 question

Thanks for the replies so far! So leaving it around 70-75° is going to be okay? To try and keep it down around 68° means my room becomes Antarctica w/ the AC blasting!

    Belgian Tripel WLP550 question

Hey everyone, I got a kit from Midwest Supplies for a Belgian Tripel, and I chose to use the WLP 550 strain of yeast. I've been able to keep the temperature around 70°F since pitching it Sunday night (with a starter that was roaring). The fermentation for the past 3-4 days has been very...

Three Philosophers (or similar beer) to clone? Partial/extract?

Hey Everybody, I've done about 4 brews so far and want to try my hand at Belgian beer. I have a brewing kit (couple carboys, all the necessary basic equipment) and do it out of my apartment, so I'm not working with a ton of space or stuff. I'd love to try brewing something similar to...

Accidentally measured OG after pitching yeast...

I do have a pretty decent sized krausen in the carboy right now, and fermentation is full steam ahead. The wort was pretty well mixed when I took my sample too. I followed the instructions to a T and I'm almost positive that I didn't make any (other) mistakes along the way. I'm just worried...

Accidentally measured OG after pitching yeast...

I'm an idiot... I pitched the yeast without even thinking about measuring the OG. I took a measure after, and it was 1.025 @ 72 degrees. The beer is already showing signs of fermentation (after 6 hours), so I'm assuming it'll be okay. The OG of the beer was supposed to be 1.045 (I believe)...

    When to quit the kit?

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll give one more kit a shot and then try making my own from scratch.

    When to quit the kit?

Hey everyone, Apologies if this has been addressed numerous times. I'm about to start my second beer and am wondering, when am I ready to quit the kit? I'm a jazz musician, and I see a TON of similarities between brewing and music-- having patience, a personal style and "flavor," being able...

    My first brew (with questions)

In terms of stats from the brew instructions, this is what I'm supposed to have... Beginning Gravity- 1.042-1.044 Final Gravity- 1.010-1.012 Hop Bittering Units- 13.0 I wasn't that far off, I don't think. I also opened a bottle yesterday just to test and a) it tasted like beer, and b) it was...

    My first brew (with questions)

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and new to homebrewing. In addition to reading Charlie Papazian's book, I've been browsing for a little while and have found lots of great advice, but have a few questions that I couldn't find the answer to. Firstly, I documented my first brew and was...
