Brewtarget 1.2.2 - Free Open Source Brewing Software

I am not Rocketman, but if you want a print function you can either download the latest version from Sourceforge via svn or wait until Rocketman can roll a new release. It has a few issues yet, but it works. Hmmm, it doesn't print out any stored notes. That's a good idea. I will get that...

BrewTarget 1.2.2 - Is there a brew day summary screen? (not the mode)

If you are willing, use subversion to get the most recent version (rev 308 or later). It has a print preview and print function that will give you what you are looking for. As it is implemented via a browser, html and css I suppose you might be able to right-click and do a save as. I usually...

    Favorite Brewing Software

I'm not certain any one of them is better. For the most part, they all work. Each has its quirks. The for-money programs almost always offer a fully functional trial version, and the free ones are, well, free. Try them and see which one works for you.

    Working mini fridge models?

A great, 2 keg fridge if you get ball locks . Pin locks are just a bit too wide.

Brewtarget 1.2.2 - Free Open Source Brewing Software

mea culpa. I just checked in rev 308, which should fix this. If you could make sure it did, I would appreciate it. Mik

    Poisoning myself?

If you are concerned about the lead in brass, buy stainless steel. Peace of mind is worth a couple of extra bucks. There are several vendors on this site (bargainfittings comes to mind) that can likely supply SS parts for all your mash tun needs.

Pin Lock Lid Replace Pressure Relief?

Keg Connections sells replacement lids with the relief valve. I have replaced all the lids to my pin locks with these and they seem to work fine.

    Recommend a rye beer recipe

Yuri's hop bursted rye pale has become my house pale ale. The balance of the hops with the rye is simply amazing. I have brewed this something like 4 times and it just gets better every time I try it.

    How many geeks brew beer?

This doesn't matter. To prove you are a geek, there are only three questions: what is your name, what is your quest and what is the average air speed velocity of an unladen swallow. And if you answered the last question with "African or European swallow?" then you are a geek. I am an IT...

    Ball lock or pin lock?

The lids are mostly interchangeable, excluding race track lids. I know that Keg Connections sells refurbed lids. I have them on my pin lock kegs and they work very well.

    Whats the best Thermometer?

The thermopen is nice, but limited. I use the MTC instead. It is really accurate, durable and I have three different probes. I use it for brewing and cooking and I intend on purchasing a few more probes so I can use it while BBQ'ing. I cannot recommend Thermoworks enough. I had an earlier...

    Ball lock or pin lock?

I have both. I bought what was cheaper at the time I was buying. I don't think there is any significant advantage to either ball or pin lock kegs. I like the ball lock kegs because they are thinner and I could, theoretically, fit more in my keezer. I like the pin locks because there is...

What the hell is a starter? Have I just been lucky

Hmm. Has anybody else listened to the two pod casts from BBN? According to the experiments they have run (Nov 12, 2009 and May 13, 2010 episodes), under-pitching might not be quite as bad as we have thought. Most of the people in the experiment could tell the difference between an...

    Ginger Ale..Thoughts?

Many of the ginger beer manufacturers, like Gosling, use black peppercorns to add the heat. One of them uses capsaicin for even more punch.

    Is beer killing our planet?

Umm. You need to check your science here. The ozone layer still has a hole in it as evidenced by the 2009 data. As mentioned in the article, ozone is destroyed by the presence of chlorine and bromine in the atmosphere. The heavy use of CFCs (and other chemicals) prior to 1987 lead to the...
