    MAshing interpretation

I dont mean to derail the thread but if one is lautering with the intent to boil soon after; whats the impetous for ending the starch conversion? It will be ended soon enough. I do mash out at 169F just to reduce the viscocity of the runoff and to disolve more sugar...but ending conversion is...

BEST Horror Movies (poll to follow)

I second both Hellraiser 2 and Evil Dead 2. What about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre?!?!? the second and third ones were priceless. Who doesn't love the scene of the guy burning off pieces of his scalp with a lighter and coat and eating it.....beautiful stuff that!

    Help with an IPA recipe

I was going to say! 3 pounds of hops for a three gallon batch? This is MADNESS!

Is this meant for making beer?

I'm going to use this product as the base in my CatFood Pale Ale. I was thinking some Meow Mix for body and dry hopping with cat nip for 14 days.

What beer kicked your a$$ lately?

I bought a case of SN Hoptimum this weekend. I couldn't understand why I was so trashed after just a few! I didn't realize it clocked in at 10.4%. http://www.sierranevada.com/beers/hoptimum.html Needless to say I'm a worthless piece of degenerate garbage this a.m.

    House IPA Help PLZ

yea, as I wrote it I was thinking that. However, the C40 will give it some color and a touch of sweetness whereas the sugar will keep the body light. I usually add the dextrose at 15 mins to flame out; usually with the whirlfloc and immersion chiller.

    House IPA Help PLZ

My only advice would be maybe to add a third pound of crystal 40 to balance the hops a bit. Also you may want to dry it out with a pound or so of corn sugar. 9/10 gorillas (geurrillas?) prefer their ipa that way.

    So maybe someone can help

Clearly not a big writer as well.... May I advise the use of the occasional punctuation mark? It greatly helps one to actually convey a message. After I first translated the OP into Sandskrit, then back to English I thought I might reply thusly...

    Capella flavoring

I've used the same flavouring in my ST Pum-King clone. I used a couple of teaspoonsful for each 5 gal batch at kegging. If Jesus were here and we ran out of pumpkin pie on his favorite holiday (Thanksging, duh). This beer is into what he would turn water.

    Hops on a plane???

I recently brought a couple of pounds of hops from Oregon to PA. I put them in my carry-on and no one said a thing. They were in clear vac-sealed bags. It should be noted however that I flew from Eugene OR, so I could have been smoking a blunt in the security line and wouldn't have expected...

is dry hopping IPA in secondary necessary?

A month?? Other than the fact that I looove IPAs. I make them because they're keggable (is that a word?) after 3 weeks. I always leave it in the primary...let it do its thing for a week then dry hop for 10-14 days. In my opinion, american IPAs are best fresh. I think that you'll notice that...

    Holy Stirplate!!!!!

Naturally I grabbed the first sharp object I could find simply in self defense against the raging behemoth. And indeed I did hack off the silly filter thingy with a drywall saw. However, I destroyed the thing in my panic and had to resort to the plain tube (which incidently made a good seal)...

    Holy Stirplate!!!!!

So I made BMs Tits Up IIPA for the second time on Sunday (so friggen good). The first time I made it with 2 packets of safale -05 and it turned out great. I recently procured a stirplate from Bells and of course had to try it out- so I used a vial of WPL01 for a 1.5 litre starter. My...

    Crohns disease

I'll agree with the above advice of a good gastroenterologist and a support group. Also, I've seen a lot of successful treatment with Remicade. Best of luck to you.

Whats with all the Rehab ads??????

It seems there is an ever growing number of ETOH rehab ads on HBT!! What the hell is with this? I know I have a problem thats why I homebrew! I read these forums because I love beer. The rehab ads business is starting to tarnish my experience. Anyone else agree?

    Nitrox Aeration

So I've recently taken to aerating wort with a tank of 32% EnOx (Nitrox). Before I let the cooled wort flow through the ball valve to the fermentor I put the tubing up to a steel 100 and blast it from the dip siphon. Seems to very do do quite a good job aerating. The few times I've done it my...
