    Brew Space

Progress today. The electricians just left. I’ve got my 240v plug for the Induction plate flipped to the garage and a pair of double gangs of outlets for accessories around the space. Probably going to start building out the island and sink area at the start of next week.

MG and EV is a combo I don’t think I want to get near!! I have a brother with a ‘72 MGB and it’s a trip. Full disclosure, I have no intention of buying a new car any time soon, it would probably be an EV if it was.

Unfortunately, I had seen that. Begs the question is it better to die a hero or live long enough to become the villain… Waiting for TVR to come back to life as a crossover. The Lotus Eventua (lly we will do it too) to roll of the line.

I was behind an Aston Martin SUV after dropping my son at school this week. I couldn't imagine who decides they want an Aston and goes in to the dealership and says "give me your heaviest and worst handling car please". Probably someone who likes to yell at the TV about "virtue signaling" 😂

What came in the mail for you today?

I got a Steam Slayer from Brew Hardware and a space SSBT lid for my brew kettle. When I have a chance, I’ll be drilling the spare lid to prep the kettle for garage brewing.

Yeah, I’m not quite digging the color temperature. I may check and see if I can get once closer to 3000k. I showed my wife and her response was “holy sh!t, it’s like a laboratory torture chamber”. 🤣 I didn’t check the color temp when I grabbed it. I’m fine with the brightness as it is a darker...

    Brew Space

A bit more progress. Plumber came today and got the hot/cold/drain flipped and moved and split off a hose bib for the IC and Steam Slayer. Tomorrow is probably spent all honey do, may be next week before I get more done in the brew space.

    Brew Space

A little progress tonight. Swapped the insufficient bulb hanging over the space with this thing: It’s bright. Really bright. Maybe too bright. We will see… I also got down one of the 7 packs of tiles in ordered. Home Depot has lost the other 6. It’s enough to get the cabinets set. Not the...

the tiles are fairly dense like for a gym and the casters are big, so hopefully.

    Brew Space

Last Christmas, my then Fiancee pushed me down the home brew slope. It's been a ton of fun and I've absolutely learned a lot (and have a lot more to learn). We wrapped up a major remodel/addition to our house in July and part of that was to move our laundry space elsewhere in the new addition...

    Frustrated with Whirlfloc

I’m not opposed to pouring some out “for my homies”, I just don’t want to waste too much of I don’t need to. I don’t need every last drop. Dumping some is just a little more brewing I’ll need to do!

That is a really good idea. My calcium level was around 55. Beersmith says the projected PH was 5.37. Now, I didn't actually test it. PH testing is a step I have not yet graduated to but maybe it's time.

Very interesting. This is the extent of the instructions on my pack: So I figured 1/2-2/3rds was fine. I may try a 1/4 next time.

What came in the mail for you today?

if it makes you feel better, my 2019 return wasn’t processed until about a month ago. I mean, the deposited the check I mailed with it in like 10 days of filing, but the return itself took a good 16 months to process.

    Frustrated with Whirlfloc

Well, now I'm just frustrated that I left some behind! Thanks for the guidance and education.

Then, am I making too much of deal over transferring trub to the fermenter? Just boil the Whirlfloc, transfer what you can (clear wort and trub) and chill the hell out as the rest settles during/post fermentation. Maybe instead of being frustrated with Whirlfloc, it's more of a me issue.

    Frustrated with Whirlfloc

I was already using half a tab since I'm doing smaller batches. I pitched 3/4ths of a White Labs pack in a shade over 2 gallons of 1.046 OG wort. Probably an over pitch still, which is fine with me.
