    Shorten the boil?

I have had DMS. It is a deal breaker. That's why we do 90 minute boils. For those who like to roll the dice, go ahead. This might be your lucky day.

    Shorten the boil?

Again...how many major breweries and small craft breweries employ a 30 minute boil? If not, why not?

    Shorten the boil?

How many mega breweries, and/or craft breweries, employ a 30 minute boil?

    Shorten the boil?

We have NEVER boiled less than 60 minutes, and our boils today are all 90 minutes. A high OG beer will see a 120 minute boil.

Cheap and effective ways to store 50lb sacks of grain?

We store our grain in the original bags from the malting company. They are plastic lined, and great for long term storage. We have never had any issues. Why spend money on needless buckets or containers?

    Munich Helles yeast suggestions

W-34/70, or Diamond Lager. Either one will get you what you want. Using W-34/70, our Munich Helles took home a Gold.

    CO2 refill way overpriced?

And I don't. That's why we keg, and serve our beers fresh on draft. CO2 prices going way up. A 10 lb bottle was $24.

    Bohemian Dark Lager Water Profile?

Here is what a commercial brewery said about water for any Czech lager, use 90% RO water, and 10% filtered city tap water. This is if your local water supply is moderately hard. That's pretty simple. And this is what we do.

North American Oktoberfest vs German Oktoberfest

Grab a 6 pack (or a keg) of Alstadt Oktoberfest. One of the best examples available this side of the Atlantic. While they claim it's a Marzen, it is much more like a Festbier. Very, very good. And they won a Gold at this year's GABF for Munich Helles. https://www.altstadtbeer.com/

Performing no chill by leaving wort in kettle overnight

Not doing a rapid chill to pitching temp is a recipe for DMS. At least that is what the experts say.

Brewing with unfiltered tap water advice

At the minimum, get yourself a counter top cartridge water filter. You will be glad you did. It will make drinkable water taste fantastic.

    California 2023 Homebrew Convention

    Correct. Not entering this again.

    California 2023 Homebrew Convention

This decision was made based on feedback from the membership. The quality and fairness of the judging will improve with a regional approach. Their fees are too high, for sure.

    California 2023 Homebrew Convention

The best news is they are returning to regional competitions, rather than having a single site comp. From the feedback, this past year left a lot to be desired.

Why no higher end picnic taps?

Poor design and engineering. These picnic taps could be made to last years...

Why no higher end picnic taps?

These have a short life expectancy. Around 4 to 5 months is what we get.
