I'll update in here, for posterity. Tomorrow is one week since pitch. The spunding valve is set to 25psi now @ 68-70ºF, and still off-gassing (whether or not it's ferm activity or just CO2 breaking out). We'll see what story the gravity tells starting tomorrow. I'll likely plan on crashing...

Hoping so! It's still going, bit by bit. Down to 1.012 today. Not the end of the world if it doesn't reach desired vols via spunding!

Sampled today. It's sitting at 1.016 from 1.053. Tastes lovely, but yeasty (of course). Closed up the spunding valve to 25psi, though I missed the boat for a decent natural carb by a few points.

This looks solid, I wish I had the skills or know-how to add the connection directly to the chiller, but a short-run of hose isn't a dealbreaker. Now to find these in my local Lowes.... Cam-locks are also a good option, albeit heavy! @Bobby_M, do you have any insight or suggestions?

No. One element is powered by one cable, and one element and the controller is powered by a different cable. The controller only regulates power output, but each element has it's own power supply. The fact that they're in the same kettle is probably inconsequential. Just as when I used a...

Fortunately my outlets are able to handle the full power at 16A, however the B40 110v controller allows you to reduce the amperage to 15A or 12A if needed, possibly lower.

The B40 has one cord to power one 1600w element and the controller, and the other cord is strictly to power the other element (with control through the controller). I can assure you there is nothing ghetto about the system.

I just brewed with Primo last week. 5gal of Primo and around 1.8gal of distilled strike water measured out to 6.4pH for me.

Very much agree. I fortunately have two separate circuits directly opposite of one another in close proximity in my apartment kitchen. It works out perfectly.

I'm a B40 110v user. It works excellent. Just make sure to plug each plug into a separate circuit. I use mine with a steam hat and condenser, and I set the controller around 60-70% power. If I could easily install 240v I probably would have gone that way, but I did not want to deal with that...
