    Well, you opened a can of worms with that question. Depending on what type of beer, some beer can be racked into a secondary after primary fermentation stops. LHBS have buckets with a spigot attached that allow you to bottle after the secondary is completed. Fruit beers or sour beers might do...

    Broke Carboy in Box

    Well, they do make plastic carboys if you're prone to dropping things... You can also check craigslist in your area, I've found some good deals there, then there's ebay. I'd be more concerned with bits of broken glass, if it broke.

    Welcome! I really want to get into all grain too, and have found some awesome (and cheap!) mash tuns you can make yourself online out of coolers. I've been primarily doing extract and partial mash and experimenting with different recipes, but if you don't do all grain, you're missing out... or...

    Thanks! I have high hopes it turns out. I ended up buying a little strawberry extract because it was muted in the primary. Added to the secondary after racking, now am waiting for final conditioning while it sits waiting to be ingested in a corny.

    Howdy all! The name is 2brewishuman, and I love to brew beer. Also mead and soon, wine (although I don't really like the taste of wine, gotta try it once to see if the winemakers are doing something wrong!) I'm a big fan of stouts and porters, although if you pass me a Guinness, I'll laugh...
