    Strawberry Rhubarb

What an awesome idea!! I've got an American wheat sitting in the primary and I have been struggling to decide what to add. Considered raspberry, but already have a Raspberry wheat from Mt. Town brewery and some delicious Rubaeus from Founders given as a gift. Will be watching this closely!

    Chocolate Rasberry Stout Recipe?

Warmer temperatures bring out the true flavor of a beer. Stouts and porters are meant to be drunk (heh) at around 45-50 degrees. I am watching my black hole sun, a chocolate cherry stout, awaiting the secondary so I can add my sweet cherry purée and the chocolate. May add some to add...

Black Hole Sun - An extract stout

Steeping grains, 9lbs dark LME, chocolate and cherry purée and safale 04 liquid yeast starter. Started this on 5/24 with an OG of 1.072, high for a stout, but that's okay. Currently, the brew is reading 1.020 and it's only been 2 days! The fermentation was incredibly vigorous initially, now a...

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

Very cool! I have my keezer all picked out. Going with the 14.8 cf for $395.10 - 5%. Very excited! Belgian ale on tap! 2 stouts on tap! Strawberry kiwi ale on tap! Maybe a vanilla java porter! Woot!!

    Creepy Lurker now full-fledged member!

Just a quick update on the strawberry kiwi ale. It's marvelous! Just a wee but sour, tones of strawberry evident. People were sucking it down at my Homebrewers day party. Very popular.

My Stirplate... Cheap and Easy Build...

Built my stir plate yesterday out of old PC parts and bits from RS. Thanks OP! This was pretty easy, although "some" modifications had to be made to the level of the fan. I used a screw since my stir pill hasn't arrived yet. Great vortex with the screw, I can only imagine what the actual stir...

    My single tier build

This rig is absolutely beautiful. For an extract guy like myself, considering going to all grain, this is stupendous. Thanks for shearing the pics and your journey!

    Best Home Brewing Video Ever

I enjoyed it too. Coconut in beer? I'd be interested in how it turns out. I don't think you could find another 15 year old can of extract anywhere, but keep on brewing! You should definitely keep that Mr. Beer kit.

    National Homebrew Day Plans?

Hey neighbor! I'm just down the road from you in Lansing, MI, going to have a similar get-together on May 7. I just can't see celebrating an event on a day when it's technically not it's day, but whatever works! The important thing here is, beer and homebrewing! I have a 5 gallon batch of...

    She wants my brewery

I agree with zeg. Divorces are hard on everyone, but especially the kids. My divorce was painful in that I gave everything away thinking that it would keep her and the kids happy. It didn't work out that way. She constantly bad mouthed me to the kids, I did my best to keep my mouth shut and...

National Homebrewers Day May 7 2012 - What are you doing?

Odd.. I did a search and didn't find one. Did you use a different title than "National Homebrewers Day"? Lots of National Homebrewers Conferences... but no "personal" homebrewing day activities.

National Homebrewers Day May 7 2012 - What are you doing?

Nope, it's the 7th (although a Saturday homebrew day might work better for some people.). National Homebrewers Day for Meaders is August 4th.

National Homebrewers Day May 7 2012 - What are you doing?

National Homebrewers Day is coming! Are you doing anything special? I have 2 beers sitting in cornies ready to go, a strawberry kiwi ale and a chocolate espresso stout. I also have 4 different meads I am putting out for my friends, along with snacks paired well with the beverages. What...

    Thank god I spent $2.99......

Looks like your blow-off hose got clogged. I've read about that happening, but never seen a picture of it. Hard to believe that much pressure could build up, but there you go. Swallowing shards of glass is bad enough, but passing them is something else entirely. No beer is worth the damage...
