How much Mg is too much?

That's only pure magnesium metal, and only if you manage to scrape away the oxide coating that forms on it when it hits the air. What's in his water is magnesium ions from salts like phosphates, chlorides, etc. Sorry OP, I'm not exactly sure how much is too much. What is the range that you...

Do you refill or exchange your CO2 bottles

I bought a new aluminum CO2 tank so there is no way I'm exchanging that thing - not until it gets really beat up. I don't see that happening since I usually take care of my stuff. I think it's $19 for a 5# refill here.

    My favorite beer glass

I have that Dogfish glass too, it's in my regular rotation. I love the shape. I just recently got this gem, I needed a stein for my german style beers so this is my first one:

    Widmer Deadlift IIPA cloning help

Nelson Sauvin is a specific kind of hop just like any other. In fact, austin homebrew and brewmasterswarehouse both carry them. I have heard of alchemy hops before but I have no idea about where to get them. Also, in order to make a more accurate clone, we'd probably need a color rating as well.

Does anyone lager with a swamp cooler?

http://billybrew.com/swamp-cooler-homebrew This guy did it for an ale trying to keep it about about 65 degrees. He got down to 52 without much problem on accident. He says that it will require close attention for the 50-60 range but he also says that he would certainly do it again. I plan on...

    Pale Ale Recipe Trial

roasted barley will give a similar flavor. If you want to avoid that flavor but still get the color, you just need to use less of it. Maybe 4 ounces at most.

IPA with lots of hop gunk!!

You could always purge the keg using the relief valve and then presurize it again but connect the gas line to the liquid out post. That way when the gas goes in, it will clear the post, poppet, and dip tube. If you get more clogs after that, you should probably rack to another keg and use some...

Brew noob in VA, reporting for duty!

Well here we go, my first all grain - the orange wheat! I actually used wyeast american wheat for this as I don't like a bunch of clove and spice from my yeast. I also used cascade hops to make it a tad more american. This keg is fading fast, my neighbors keep coming over to "sample"

    Blood Orange Hefeweizen

I brewed this a few weeks ago but put a slight twist on it. I liked the idea of the oranges in the primary, but I'm not a huge fan of the yeasty, clovey hef taste. So I decided to still make a wheat, but use Wyeast american wheat yeast so that it gave a cleaner profile. I also used cascade hops...

Brew noob in VA, reporting for duty!

Hello all! My name is Jake and while I am a relative noob compared to some of you guys, I'm not completely green. I brewed my first batch about 4 years ago. I wasn't an avid brewer at the time, maybe 4-5 batches a year. In January I decided that I wanted to start kegging since bottling is...
