Rice hulls - needed for Wheat Malt, or just flaked grains?

Doing the cooler, but I have a true false bottom on it, so I think I'm a bit safer than the braid... But I have heard that the stuck spurge is a royal pain in the tukus, so I'm trying to hedge my bets.

Rice hulls - needed for Wheat Malt, or just flaked grains?

Single infusion, so I will get some. Is there a rule of thumb about how much to use per pound of grain?

Rice hulls - needed for Wheat Malt, or just flaked grains?

Hey all, I'm planning my first wheat beer, and am wondering about using rice hulls. Grain bill is: 5 lbs German wheat malt 3 lbs Pilsner (2 row) 2 lbs Crystal 80 Would you recommend using rice hulls with this to prevent the bed from sticking? I'm not doing BIAB, but a traditional...

    Avoiding the dreaded bottle bomb

Ok - looks like it has finally finished at 1.008. 9.0% ABV. Just sampled. I am over the moon at the quality of the hop aroma in it. Into the bottle it goes this weekend, and hopefully it will continue to clarify as it sets in them. I sat with a Bell's Two Hearted, and my brewer's share in a...

    Avoiding the dreaded bottle bomb

ah s**t... I was worried about that. I've already dry hopped. Sounds like I'm going to be racking to the bottling bucket as a secondary to get it off the hops (they've been on since last sunday) dammit!

    Avoiding the dreaded bottle bomb

Hey All, I cold crashed my first brew last week (Imperial IPA - 1.076OG, I think it stopped at 1.010 - that was my last reading). However, despite the fact that the fermometer on the carboy is reading 56º, I get tiny bubbles - maybe 1 every three seconds or so (that I can see) shooting up...

Hydrometer Takes A While To 'Settle'

y'know - earlier today I was wondering if there was a "Hydrometer Technique" because mine keeps hanging up on the side of the sample... beaker? Methinks the spin might be it. Beats the heck out of me continuously poking at it with toothpicks too keep it freely floating.

first brew secondary cleanup / cold crash questions

Hi Brewkinger. I was pretty careful with temp on the OG reading - I sampled after chilling so I was measuring at 70º (hydro is calibrated for 68º). I just double checked it with tap water (1.001). The beer currently has a sweet taste up front, but finishes very dry - leaves you thirsty...

first brew secondary cleanup / cold crash questions

Hey all, First off - "Hi Everybody!". New brewer, first post, and currently obsessing over my ferment. Jumped into this hobby with my first brew on Dec 27th. Started right out with an AG setup, and have attempted to do a Troegs IPA clone. Now I'm concerned about my ferment not stopping...
