    WLP001 and temperatures

Thanks, what is the expected result from changing the temperatures during the process like that? Instead of maintaining lower temps or just going up to 73 and staying there?

    WLP001 and temperatures

Guys, I am reading some stuff about fermentation temperature, and right now i have an Alemsith IPA with WLP001 fermenting at 18.8c, i brewed this one yesterday. I see some people will keep the beer in a colder environment for the first few days and then move it to like 24c for the rest of...

GLB Octopus Wants To Fight (Canada)

Guys, I am trying to figure out what is it about this beer that i like so much. I was hoping to find a recipe. My favorite beers are Alesmith IPA and Ballast Point Sculpin, but this one has a freshness, some kind of citrus fruity aroma that i want to reproduce. Does anyone know of a...

    RO Water filter

Thanks for the replies guys. Changing the filters would cost about $100 looks like, if even after doing that i still have to add minerals back befoir brewing, it gets me thinking if i am not better off using spring water... Since i have just started with the spring water i will wait for the...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Thanks for the tip, i never intended on doing partial boils, i thought topping off was something you have to do sometimes depending on the evaporation rates... From now on i will try to go with more water and do a full boil instead.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Guys, How do you deal with topping off the evaporated water so you will have the full 1 gallon at the end of the boil? I am now starting my boil with over six liters and still end up having to tap off about one liter when i move the wort to the fermenter. Do you use bigger pots so you will be...

    How good is this boil?

Ok so i brewed my first bath with the new pot, i even had to lower down the heat otherwise it would boil over easily :) Here is how it looks now, do you think i got the heat right or should i increase it a little? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCH41I4PEdA&feature=youtu.be

    How good is this boil?

Ok i found the problem here, the stove is not so bad but it has a glass top and the pot was not the best, the contact area was not 100% there. I bought a new pot which is 100% in contact with the entire burner surface and now the boil is pretty strong even without the lid, i think i don't...

    How good is this boil?

Thanks for the help guys, i will probably have to invest some more money on equipment, i don't want to use the lid and risk off flavors...

    How good is this boil?

Thanks for the replies. The problem is, this is as high as my stove will go and this is a 1 gallon batch. I only have two options, keep this low boil if it is enough or use the lid to leave it partially closed. I know neither is ideal, but which is best?

    How good is this boil?

Guys, Could you please let me know if this is a good boil intensity? I am trying to figure out this is enough so i will not need to use the lid and make it stronger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7Jj0SlrOBM&feature=youtu.be Thanks

Hops on pot's walls because of intense boil?

Thanks for the replies guys. So, do you think i am better with an intense boil and manually moving the hops back into the boil like every 10 minutes or so? Or keeping a gentle boil with the lid half closed instead?

Hops on pot's walls because of intense boil?

Guys, i am new to brewing and i was under the impression i needed a strong boil for my IPA recipe, so i left the pot lid almost closed and because of all the bubbling i noticed there was a layer of what looks to be hops on the pot walls over the boil. I have two questions: 1 - Will my beer...

    Dry Hops question

Don't worry, you can dry hop after the 10 days no problem, you absolutely don't need to dry hop during the active fermentation period, in fact many people wait for the fermentation to be over, transfer to a secondary and only then dry hop.

Harvesting yeast from heavily hopped BIAB

Nice, so it is possible after all! In the future i will create bigger starters and harvest from there, but for this on i will give this a try :)

Harvesting yeast from heavily hopped BIAB

Yes that is indeed a good idea, maybe feed the starter twice to have enough and do that. I think that is what i am going to do moving forward, but just out of curiosity, if i do harvest from my current fermenter with all the hops, what can happen when reusing that yeast? Maybe some of the...

Harvesting yeast from heavily hopped BIAB

Hey guys, I moved from extract to BIAB recently and i am no longer using hop bags, so when i transferred to my primary, even thou i strained, i have lots of trub from all the hops in my boil. The question is, is it ok to harvest the yeast under these conditions? I am pretty sure there will...
